Open Question: How much should I expect to spend on flowers?
I am still trying to find a venue, and I have a firm budget. How much do you think I should set aside for flowers? Just wedding flowers, not the reception. We are doing bridal bouquet, one bridesmaid bouquet, two mens boutonnieres, and 4 mothers/grandmother corsages. Has anyone gotten this far in their planning and can give me an idea? Open Question: Non-church wedding ceremony venue in Frederick MD?
I want to have a smell wedding ceremony in/around Frederick MD. There will be no reception; only a small dinner out with close family and friends. Im having trouble finding a venue in which to get married. Most of the places I have found are ceremony AND reception only. I would love an outside wedding, but Im scared that the weather may be poor, and we will not have a back-up since there will be no reception hall. Open Question: What should I do about my wedding reception?
We are having a pretty traditional wedding (church, dinner, dance, etc.) but because my fiance and i are paying for everything ourselves we are worried about the food. The caterer is charging $8 a plate & feeding 100+ people would really kill our budget. Even if we did have the money to feed everyone, i would rather have the dinner include only our close friends & family and all other guests could just come for the dance. So here's the dillema: how do I only include some to both dinner and dance and others to only the dance...without hurting anyone's feelings. would i put something in the invitations or just leave it to word of mouth? (the dinner and dance will be at the same venue if that helps) thanks for any advice!!! (more...)

Open Question: Did you end up regretting NOT inviting more guests to your wedding?
Everyone knows how out of hand guest lists get. Despite our best intentions, they have a tendency to get bigger and bigger and threaten our budgets and venue space. And then you always hear people say things like if they could do it all over again, they would have a smaller wedding or not feel pressured to invite all their coworkers or family members they never see, etc. I feel fully prepared to be brutal with our guest list to keep things small. But I wonder if I will regret cutting people out. So did anyone actually wish they had invited MORE people? FYI my wedding will be considered small by many standards no matter what. Ideally I wanted 60 people. But now our invite list is creeping into the 80s and is threatening to get bigger. But I will stick to my guns and stick my "keeping it small" mission! (more...)

Open Question: Know of a scenic, affordable venue for an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony near York, Pennsylvania (PA)?
We are hoping to have a small outdoor wedding ceremony (with only 8 - 20 guests) sometime during the weekend of August 1st, 2009, near York, Pennsylvania. We wouldn't mind having it on Friday (July 31st) or Sunday (August 2nd), if those days are discounted, but would prefer to have it in the evening. Our goal is to find a local, scenic outdoor venue for less than $1000 ceremony site fee. We are desperately seeking a nicely landscaped area... gardens, fountains, a forest, an open field, a winery, an orchard, a restaurant next to the river -- it doesn't matter as long as it's a beautiful spot, affordable, private, and close enough to York (ideally no more than an hour or so away). Privacy is VERY important to us; we would prefer to have no onlookers (which is why state parks aren't really an option). We have already checked out Hershey Gardens, but would like to find something more private. Please help! Any recommendations that fit these guidelines would be very useful. (more...)
