Open Question: Peer edit my essay anyone?
So the assignment was to write a story about this picture: by DOROTHEA LANGE "Migrant Mother" http--www.1adventure.com-archives-images-dorothea-lange-migrant-mother-ver1a.jpg I just need someone to peer edit my essay for grammer, sentence structure and etc. (just making it a better essay) I was absent at school today and my English class did peer editing and i missed it. this is a major grade and i'm a only child with parents who only speak Indian so i'm stuck... can anyone help me?? some parts seem awkward.. i just want to fix all taht. just copy and paste onto answer. edit it and post it. thaks. It was raining in the vast hills of Nipomo, California. Under the tiny shack the mother had built out of clothe she brought from Nevada, she gasped at the site of another day of starvation. As the mother gazed hopelessly into blank space she spotted a man, harshly beaten up by his owner, thrown out into the street with the only fifty dollars he earned after one month of hard duty work damped with rain and few ten dollar bills torn up in his hands. The big wounds that were visible through his beaten up clothes were miserable. The kids stared in awe at the man and out of concern the mother shouted, ?Ey child! My child, don?t you look. This man has nothing to do with you kids. Turn away!? The twins quietly turned away, showing their sorrow for the man. The mother stared hopelessly at the man; wanting to do something, to help him. ?Ey miss! Won?t you help me? Please! I?m desperate! Me money is becoming ruined and wet! I just need a place to stay til the rain stops my lady. There is no other settle than around five miles from here!? The mother stared quietly back at the man with an apologetic face and stood struck with sorrow. A memory rushed into her mind where her husband, who kneeled on the streets on a rainy day and begged for a job to a boss but being badly beaten he past away after he caught a deadly infection from the wounds he received after the struggle to earned precious money. She then realized how precious the money in the man?s hands were and replied, ?sure, but you can?t stay long. I?ve got to support my children.? ?Thank you ma?! Thank you so much!? the man began to limp towards the shelter and the lady stared and stared, thinking and thinking? (more...)

Open Question: How do you feel about this essay?
My brother had to read the book "The Shack" by William P. Young in order to go to a game store this Friday and play a game, after wards he had to right a two page essay, the following is his essay: ?The Shack? by William P. Young is an interesting Christian, life-changing, book with many good reviews from Michael W. Smith, Mike Morell, and Wynonna Judd. The story revolves around Mackenzie Allen Philips, a relatively good man who just happened to go camping with his children. The trip ended horribly for one of his children and it scarred him and the family for life. This causes the character to repent everything he used to believe in. The character of this story includes Mack Philips, an emotionally ruined father after his youngest daughter, Missy, dies by a brutal serial killer?s hand. Also we have Nan, the wife who helped him through this ruined time and is a great nurse; we also have the children Kate, John, Josh, Tyler, and the late Missy. The characters inside the Shack itself is Papa, also know as God, Jesus, and Sarayu, who is apparently the Holy Spirit. We also have many other characters in the story that add to the story such as William, the friend of Mack who lets him borrow the Jeep to drive to the shack; we have Wikowsky, the special agent in charge of catching the Little-Ladybug killer; we have Tom Dillen, an officer and later friend of Mack who supported the man during the disaster of the abduction of Missy; and finally we have the Little-Ladybug killer, who is so twisted that he spends his time brutally killing little girls and leaving behind his logo of a ladybug on his victims. I?d like to point out that I spent a full ten minutes thinking why the bloody hell would anyone with any shred of humanity would go about slaughtering little girls in a brutal manner and then leaving behind little signatures as if this was some sort of damned game or contest? The setting of this story is in a town called Joseph, Oregon. The location of the main events of the story is in a little run-down shack that?s seen better days. The Shack is in the middle of a forest near a hiking trail that can be barley be noticed with all the undergrowth around it. In the Shack we have two very important parts of the story unfold, the murder of Missy and the revelation that Mackenzie has. The time period is around, I assume, the 1990?s. The story is that Mackenzie, a good Christian father, takes his children out to go camping before school starts. They have a wonderful time with kayaking, hiking, and meeting with other families that quickly befriends them. All is going well until two of Mack?s kids are almost drowned in a canoeing accident. After rescuing his children in a rather impressive display of lifeguard skills he goes back to the campsite to find that Missy has gone missing, after hours of searching the authorities, even the FBI, get involved in the search. They find clues to this being the work of a serial killer that targets little girls. After finding the bloody dress of Missy in a shack at an out-of-the-way place Mack goes almost insane with grief. The entire family becomes deeply infected with this but the most infected is Kate and Mack. Kate becomes less sociable because she assumes that the kidnapping and killing of Missy is all because she went canoeing in the lake. Mack blames this misfortune upon God Almighty, and loses his Christian ways. After receiving a letter from ?Papa? (the alias that Nan calls God) that says to meet him at the Shack, Mack quickly relives memories of that awful time and the letter will not leave his mind. He soon decides to barrow his friend?s car and goes to the Shack. After going there he finds that it?s just as desolate, which leads to him going on a rampage and soon passing out. When he wakes he finds that the surrounding area turns to a sort of Garden of Eden, and inside the Shack was three people, a black woman, an Asian woman, and a Middle Eastern man. By surprise it turns out that the Asian woman is the Holy Spirit, the man is Jesus, and the other woman is Papa, otherwise God. Mack goes through trials and spends time with these people slowly healing him inside and realizing that all is okay now. After leaving the Shack he gets into a car-crash, which leads him to be in a hospital with his friends and family all around them, he tells the story of the Shack and the happenings inside it. After leaving the hospital he goes to the forest with Nan and his friend Dillen to find a cave God showed him that held the missing body of Missy. This event leads to the later capture of the Little Ladybug killer. This is a really good way to end a story I believe. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys realistic Christian events, although I myself am more into the fantasy, sci-fi, and fictional genre of books, I find this book interesting still. By the way, never, ever assign me a project like this ever again, EVER! (more...)

Open Question: Under Pressure To Date At 15. What should I do? Anyone in the same situation?
I feel that I am under a lot of pressure to date at my age (15). Since last year, loads of girls that I thought I knew have just changed and started dating and making out with random guys they hardly know. I don't want to do this but now I feel really alone all the time because I can't join in in their conversations. They decided that me, and another friend, were too 'sensible' and they stopped talking to us about their boyfriends, etc. I feel scared that by the time I go to University, all the guys will be experienced and I won't ever get a date because they won't want an inexperienced girl. Also, I go to an all-girl school, so when the girls start talking about boys I don't know who the boys are so I can't join in. Especially since I don't live in the city where the school is situated in. I feel really left out all the time and I don't really have a 'group' of friends anymore. I talk to most of the girl's in my school and have a lot of friends but I since I don't really have a 'group' I don't get invited to places. I was wondering if anyone was in the same situation as me and how they are dealing with it. It just seems like everyone is trying to act older than they are and I don't want that. I just want to concentrate on my exams. Does anyone have any idea about what I should do to stop feeling so lonely? Anyone else in the same situation? Please no harsh answers. It justs wastes your time and makes me feel bad. (more...)

Open Question: If you go to a Technical College, how do you like it?
For right now I'm a freshman in college at KY State, (stupidest place ever, believe me-I hate it!) But anyways, it was a total shock to me when my parents said I should go to a technical school. That's what I wanted to do in the first place, but my parents wanted me to get a feel for college first to see if I liked it at all. I want to stay in college, and get a degree, but obviouslly not where I'm currently at...I like smaller class sizes, and I'm looking forward to when I'm a sophmore this fall. How do you like your school? Where is it? What's the name of the school? (more...)

Open Question: Looking for Job. How long did it take you to find a job?
Why is it so hard getting a job? In the past month I've applied for 35 jobs. I never got any calls back. Just two rejection letters. I barely turned 16 with no work experience but I am willing to work very hard. If a company will give me a chance to prove myself they won't regret it. I've applied at fast food places, kids clothes stores, back stock, shoe stores, clothes stores, big department stores. Half of the places said they were hiring but I never got a call. I want a job really badly to help my mom support our family. I'm finally old enough to get a job but no one is hiring me. I'm willing to work everyday after school and all weekends (29hours). How long does it usually take before a job will call you for an interview? Should I keep applying for more jobs? (more...)
