LEGO Darth Vader Transformation Set
LEGO Darth Vader Transformation Set This is one of the more bizarre Lego collections you might come across. The set re-creates the scene at the end of Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, in which the newly incarnated Darth Vader--fresh off surgery--is raised forward and revealed, strapped to a Frankenstein-like chair. Here, the swiveling seat sits atop a platform, with a battered Anakin Skywalker on one side and Vader on the other. A five-armed, robotic surgeon stands nearby. The whole thing can be reassembled into a turret manned by the evil Sith Lord himself. The 53 pieces are all tiny; little Lego Darth is as cute as a button. An instruction booklet is included. --Andy Boynton

On Moonlight Bay
On Moonlight Bay America's love affair with clean-cut, tomboyish, freckle-faced Doris Day got a boost with On Moonlight Bay, a period piece from 1951. The film's masterstroke: put Doris in an old-timey musical full of small-town family values and vintage songs. Another inspiration: pair off Doris again with that chesty-voiced man's man and future Rodgers and Hammerstein stalwart, Gordon MacRae (they'd already made Tea for Two and The West Point Story). The story is drawn from Booth Tarkington's Penrod tales, although the movie is also under the sway of Meet Me in St. Louis. The WWI-era family is anchored by parents Leon Ames (the pop from St. Louis) and Rosemary De Camp, with echt-Fifties boy Billy Gray (later of Father Knows Best) as Day's bratty younger brother. Mary Wickes, cinema's eternal sassy housekeeper, provides comic relief. So does radio crooner Jack Smith, who would later host You Asked for It on TV for many years, as Day's maladroit suitor (he's really funny--too bad Preston Sturges never got a hold of him). The material is so relentlessly wholesome you might have to pinch yourself that anybody really believed it, but audiences sure wanted to. The film's popularity prompted a sequel, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, with most of the cast intact. --Robert Horton

Open Question: How do I deal with people that are literally driving me crazy?
I live in San Diego, California. I am a student and currently unemployed [it is kinda hard to find a job out here]. I go to a community college and am going to transfer somewhere. I don't know where I want to go. Any suggestions? [major:international relations/affairs, law.. learning German] I know what most of you are probably thinking, "why would you want to leave?" Well this is why: I live in East county. Which means, I am surrounded by racist redneck conservatives everywhere I go. I constantly find myself arguing with these people and it really irritates me. Does anybody have any advice or recommend any websites that will help me cope with the almost unbearable situation I'm in. How do I get the hell out of here and meet new people or learn to get along better with people like this? Maybe I am a little crazy, but for the most part I love being around people. I just don't know how to meet people outside of this place. (more...)

Open Question: Which UK Universities have the largest amount of Middle East / Arab students ? ?

Open Question: After reading this, does anyone still defend Israel's actions and if so, why?
STATEMENT BY PROF. RICHARD FALK, UNITED NATIONS SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIES "The Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip represent s evere and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions, both in regard to the obligations of an Occupying Power and in the requirements of the laws of war. Those violations include: Collective punishment ? the entire 1.5 million people who live in the crowded Gaza Strip are being punished for the actions of a few militants. Targeting civilians ? the airstrikes were aimed at civilian areas in one of the most crowded stretches of land in the world, certainly the most densely populated area of the Middle East. Disproportionate military response ? the airstrikes have not only destroyed every police and security office of Gaza's elected government, but have killed and injured hundreds of civilians; at least one strike reportedly hit groups of students attempting to find transportation home from the university. Earlier Israeli actions, specifically the complete sealing off of entry and exit to and from the Gaza Strip, have led to severe shortages of medicine and fuel (as well as food), resulting in the inability of ambulances to respond to the injured, the inability of hospitals to adequately provide medicine or necessary equipment for the injured, and the inability of Gaza's besieged doctors and other medical workers to sufficiently treat the victims. Certainly the rocket attacks against civilian targets in Israel are unlawful. But that illegality does not give rise to any Israeli right, neither as the Occupying Power nor as a sovereign state, to violate international humanitarian law and commit war crimes or crimes against humanity in its response. I note that Israel's escalating military assaults have not made Israeli civilians safer; to the contrary, the one Israeli killed today after the upsurge of Israeli violence is the first in over a year. Israel has also ignored recent Hamas' diplomatic initiatives to reestablish the truce or ceasefire since its expiration on 26 December. The Israeli airstrikes today, and the catastrophic human toll that they caused, challenge those countries that have been and remain complicit, either directly or indirectly, in Israel's violations of international law. That complicity includes those countries knowingly providing the military equipment including warplanes and missiles used in these illegal attacks, as well as those countries who have supported and participated in the siege of Gaza that itself has caused a humanitarian catastrophe. I remind all member states of the United Nations that the UN continues to be bound to an independent obligation to protect any civilian population facing massive violations of international humanitarian law ? regardless of what country may be responsible for those violations. I call on all Member States, as well as officials and every relevant organ of the United Nations system, to move on an emergency basis not only to condemn Israel's serious violations, but to develop new approaches to providing real protection for the Palestinian people." 27 December 2008 http://www.unhchr.ch/huricane/huricane.nsf/view01/F1EC67EF7A498A30C125752D005D17F7?opendocument Sam, you speak boldly for someone 'hiding behind a computer'. And you also failed to answer my question. People are still failing to answer the question. Does anyone still defend Israel's criminal actions, and WHY? You can post your own question about Hamas, but if you want to speak here, then stick to the topic. Emanuel, you should read this part of the statement again: "Certainly the rocket attacks against civilian targets in Israel are unlawful. But that illegality does not give rise to any Israeli right, neither as the Occupying Power nor as a sovereign state, to violate international humanitarian law and commit war crimes or crimes against humanity in its response. I note that Israel's escalating military assaults have not made Israeli civilians safer; to the contrary, the one Israeli killed today after the upsurge of Israeli violence is the FIRST in over a year." Where are the 'thousands of Israelis killed' that another poster talks about? All I see is F-16s and tanks and IDF soldiers armed to the teeth pointing rifles at women and children. And who said Israel 'will listen' to the UN? Israel has broken MORE UN RESOLUTIONS than all the countries of the world put together. I agree with Eric, the UN is weak, but only because it fails to act against Israel in the same way it did with Iraq Here is a list of UN Resolutions broken by Israel. Read it and tell me Israel 'will listen to the UN': http://salemshalom.blogspot.com/2007/12/heres-list-of-u.html And then please post a similar list of resolutions broken by Palestine. Quantril, if Israel want security and peace then they should create the conditions for it, i.e. abiding by international law and lifting the illegal 18-month blockade, returning full rights of passage and movement to the Palestinians, return all illegally occupied territory, and stop military incursions into Palestinian land. They certainly will not get security and peace by bombing a thousand people (which is why this claim is fishy - read http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoJNIS9B_RdjPm8X4xBDQbXsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090109095643AAnyQpV), leaving a generation of widows and orphans who will remember these days very well. Based on your logic, the Palestinians have a stronger right to resistance (which is actually their legal right -even militarily - although their methods may not be as legal) as they are facing the illegal brunt of Israel's blockade and military incursion, and are facing a more serious threat to their security, which causes the rocket attacks. Am Yisrael, firstly I am not from the US and therefore did not vote anyone there to reperesent me. And while people here are taling of not trusting the UN and it's supposed 'bias', I am astonished how these same people can stand by the current US administration (presumably because they falsely see it as 'patriotic') who clearly boast of its bias and 'historical ties' with Israel, whose hands are just as bloody as Israel's, who funds Israel billions of dollars each year, and who has a track record of atrocities to match those of Israel. The US knows it depends on Israel (zionist lobby): ". . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it." Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, October 3, 2001. Which is why its simply playing along with Israel's propaganda game, claiming Hamas started this with its rockets. Clearly false. Please read: http://www.creative-i.info/?p=3402 In addition to the above article, I've already mentioned that Israel has broken more UN resolutions than all the countries of the world put together, starting from more than half a century ago. Hamas was only elected into Gaza (democratically by the way) two yeaars ago. So the big question is this: if this all started with Hamas, who was responsible for the oppression, occupation, and countless broken resolutions before Hamas came into power? This conflict didn't start 14 days ago (in which case it would've been Israeli agression and breach of the cease-fire which began it - see the link from the previous edit), this conflict goes beyond that, but most people have either forgotten or do not know: We must do everything to insure they (the Palestinians) never do return." Assuring his fellow Zionists that Palestinians will never come back to their homes. "The old will die and the young will forget". David Ben-Gurion, in his diary, 18 July 1948" (more...)

Open Question: Please answer the two questions?
Please answer the two questions? 1. Explain why this course would be better described as a study in human geography rather than a study of physical geography? This class is more into human geography then physical geography. See look at this page of my course Having successfully completed your visit to Europe, the Committee is anxious for you to embark on your next mission--to learn about the region known as the Middle East. Countries of the world are generally grouped together geographically to form regions. This makes comparing them easier. Regions are usually defined using some common characteristics such as race and ethnicity, culture, language, religion, historical unity, climate, or some other geographic feature. However, the area known as the Middle East generally defies definition based on these terms because of the diversity found within its area. For the purpose of this mission, you will concentrate on the countries of southwest Asia and at least part, if not all of northern Africa. At a cross-roads of influences from east, north and south, the Middle East has been Influenced by many different cultures, including the ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, Egyptians, and even the Greeks and Romans. All have left their mark in the structures they built, and in other lasting legacies. Get ready to explore some of the physical and human characteristics of this important world region. 2.Imagine you are writing to a student that is just starting this course. Explain in one paragraph the importance of having geographic literacy. Please answer i have no clue about what the answer is and there both are suppossed to be three sentence each.thnx ill reword you with 10 points and ones i get to level 2 ill give you even more. Open Question: Private or Boarding Schools In the MA/RI area?
Hi, I'm looking for a private school or a boarding school in the Massachusetts or Rhode Island area. My parents would like me to go to Mount Saint Charles Academy(Woonsocket, RI). I'm not sure if this is a good school. My father used to attend Mount back when it was known as Brothers of The Sacred Heart. They will probably allow me in, since my father is one of their best students and they have been sending us things trying to get me to attend. I am wondering if this is a good school. I would love to try boarding school as well, so if you know of any of those, that would be helpful. I do not need financial aid, I have no special needs. I am looking for something on the east coast for a boarding school, or something in the MA/RI area, Mount is probably about the farthest. I am a girl. I will be entering the seventh grade next year. Please email me at pinkluvr185@verizon.net if you have any questions or leave them as a response and I will put the answers in as an edit. Please include websites of the schools if possible. If there is no website, then please include the website that you found it at, as it may include a description. Thanks for reading and any help you may provide. (more...)
