Voting Question: Do you have a business in East Calder, West Lothian?
I am on the parents commitee for East Calder Playgroup and we, like many others, are trying to raise funds for the playgroup. Instead of just going down the usual route of raffles and sponsored walks etc, we thought that we would ask for a donation from local businesses and trades people in the Villiage to support the excellent work that the staff do with our children in their early years in Education. We receive funding from West Lothian council, but this just covers the small wage bill that we have. Could you spare some cash for the Playgroup (every little bit helps) or perhaps you have a trade and can donate some of you time? Please help us, it helps get the kids off to a really fantastic start! Remember, these are the employees and business people of the future! Many thanks Eleanor Thanks for your ideas, Fi!! Now, don't suppose you know anyone that can help me out with a website, do you! (more...)

Resolved Question: Council tax - do you think you get value for money?
Just got the annual bill through with the increases and was about to moan about it but then I thought about it and I actually don't mind paying as I am happy with the services my council provide. Gtreat refuse and recycling services, good community centres and sports halls and gyms that are accessable and reasonably price. The social services I have had to deal with through my work are very well run and I use my local library every other day! There are many projects my council fund that I make use of and the streets are clean. Am I alone? I live in East Lothian, Scotland. Where are you and do you grudge your council tax? (more...)
