Open Question: Were Paul and Peter Trinitarians?
A good question should not be so quickly suppressed, as this one was.
Here are my thoughts, but what do you, the readers here, think?
Nobody knows what Peter believed, since he never left any record, never wrote any letters, despite what some might say. There is a second-hand account that suggests that he believed Jesus was Son of God, but since this ignores the Holy Spirit, it is not an adequate measurement of whether Peter was a Trinitarian.
There are some places in his writings, however, where you get the impression that Paul might have harbored some Trinitarian thoughts.
He ends one of his best letters thus:
"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you." (2 Cor 13:13 NRSV)
Many people see in this a clear reference to the Trinity.
The Nicene Creed was adopted at the Council of Chalcedon in 451. The Council of Nicaea adopted a very similar creed, but it the Church essentially became Arian for a time.
However, the concept of the Trinity was not born at that time, nor at the Council of Nicaea as you suggest. It was around for some time before that, although it is obviously not fully developed in Biblical times. It is a concept that the Church gradually discovered explained a lot of the questions they had about Jesus, and it has stood the text of time, not because some old men said it was so, but because the Church has tested it over and over and found it the best answer to the question about the nature of God. It is imperfect, and if we were to try to do it over today, I doubt that we would arrive at the same place as the Church Fathers did, over a period of centuries, so long ago.
It is important to note that the Church at its famous councils of Nicaea and Chalcedon met to define the Church's precise understanding of the nature of Jesus Christ. They were not debating the Trinity; they were debating the precise understanding of it.
It would be a mistake to see this as the beginning of the doctrine of the Trinity. The leading opposition, Arianism, did not dispute the Trinity; they merely disputed whether Jesus was (is, actually) an aspect of God, uncreated but co-eternal with God the Father. They simply insisted that Jesus was created by God. One can easily be an Arian (not to be confused with an Aryan) and believe fully in the Trinity. Indeed, many of today's church members and even some leaders do, even though they might not be fully aware of it.
In order for scriptural citations to suggest Paul was aTrinitarian, the text has to suggest all three persons of the Trinity, and none mentioned thus far have done that. I still think my example from 2 Cor is a good example, however.
The 1 Cor 8 is hardly a refutation of the Trinity; Quite the opposite.
The citations of Galatians and Romans are irrelevant to the subject. C'mon folks!! No points for not thinking....

Resolved Question: Should The Deuterocanonical Books Have Been Removed?
Some of the many arguments for them remaining as part of the Bible are,
In John 10:22 we read a mention of the Feast of Dedication- this Feast was not mentioned in the Bible in the Protocanonica (standard Old Testament) while it was proved in the Book of Maccabees that Judas Maccabeus was the first to initiate this feast when he purified the temple of the profanities of the gentiles and renewed the altar. This feast was not mentioned in the Protocanonica as at the time the writings in question were compiled by Ezra the priest the feast of Dedication had yet to be instituted, yet from the apostle John we not that it was.
?Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon?s porch.? John 10:22
The Books in question were found in the ?Septuagint version? of the Old Testament. This translation from Hebrew to Greek is the oldest known and the seventy-two Jewish Rabbis that performed the translation during the reign of Patmus II at Alexandria in c.282 BC , entered these books with the other Old Testament writings indicating they were of equal importance. The three oldest copies of the ?Septuagint version?, the ?Sinaite?, ?Alexandrian? and ?Vatican? all include the ?Deuterocanonical Books?.
The Coptic version, which is generally considered the oldest after the ?Septuagint? also contains these books as does the Latin versions.
The Council of Hippo, held in 393 AD and the Council of Carthage held in 397 AD both declared the authenticity of the ?Deuterocanonical books?.
Many Church Fathers made equal references to the books of the Old Testament including the ?Deuterocanonical Books?. Some include Clement of Alexandria, Oregan, Dionisius, Cyprian, Basil, Gregory of Nyssa, Augustine and John Chrysostom. Even Athanasius, who presided over the Council of Nicea where the Canon was determined quoted verses from the ?Deuterocanonical Books? and made references that these books were useful in teaching.
The early Church would read from the ?Deuterocanonical Books? at the appropriate times during Church services and was common practice within all Christianity, not just Rome, up until the birth of Protestantism in Europe. Today, all Churches that can legitimately establish a heritage dating back to the apostles all recognize the ?Deuterocanonical Books?.
Many of the Churches in Europe were influenced by the Jewish communities who by the time of the Reformation had rejected the ?Deuterocanonical Books?. Thus these people were mislead by Jews who still rejected Christ and were devoid of the Holy Spirit, relying solely on their carnal understanding of the Mosaic law.
Others within the European Church who attempted to defeat the Jewish arguments against Christianity relied solely on the ?Protocanonical Books? as the Jews rejected all other writings. This led to their dependence on the standard Old Testament writings.
Of the early Church Fathers that rejected the ?Deuterocanonical Books?, they make it evident that they were expressing their personal opinions and that the Church as a Body rejected their viewpoint.
All Churches that have any apostolic foundation still read from the ?Deuterocanonical Books? during certain services.
The Roman Catholic Church reassessed the validity of these Books at the Council of Trent in 1546 AD and again established their authenticity in agreement with the earlier Councils and also placed a ?anathema? (ex-communication) on any who reject them.
When the Protestants discussed the authenticity of the ?Deuterocanonical Books? with the Greek Churches, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Dcusathus held a meeting in 1682 A. D. and issued a resolution saying "We consider these books authentic and believe that they are part of the Bible because we received them from the holy church since older times".
The church of Antioch also acknowledged the point of view of the original churches concerning the validity of these books.

Open Question: Future Job In International Affairs? Please help!?
Right now I'm 15 and for high school I transferred to a private school that has a strong focus on international and cultural awareness (boarding/day school with kids from all over the world). I've always wanted a job when I was older that had to do with international affairs and probably security and intelligence so the CIA was one place I was hoping I could end up or one of the US Governments similar agencies and I would also like to after my work with the US government get work with the UN Security Council. I know these probably seem like pretty wild aspirations but my real question is how can I start my career in this? I've been thinking about maybe going into the military to build up my resume and experience but I don't see myself pursuing a career in the military and I wasn't planning on enlisting or going to an academy but I would like to take the right classes in college to get the right credentials (I was thinking of maybe trying to become an MI officer; can't really see myself commanding infantry not that I wouldn't be willing to fight for my country but I think my skills would be better put towards Intelligence or Civil Affairs). So I only know a little about the ROTC program but I also heard that I wouldn't necessarily get into MI even if that was where I think I would be best, so what classes can I take in college that will help my chances towards becoming a MI Officer and how can I apply for this position. Also do you think MI is the right choice for pursuing a job in the CIA or should I do something that isn't the military out of college?
Also I have clinically flat feet and suffer from migraines (they come whenever I get dehydrated but my body gets dehydrated a lot easier than most people; again this is confirmed by my GP). Will this limit me to certain jobs in the military, if any?
I don't really know much about how the officer programs work or how getting a job in the CIA works but that's why I came to you guys. Thanks so much!
to Tom S,
haha thats funny I thought that the army would be the last one to overlook those health problems (besides the marines)

Resolved Question: My friends are slacking with my baby shower!?
Two of my very closest friends *they are sisters* said they would take on the responsibitly of throwing me a baby shower. I'm due Feb.24th now and nothing has been done by them. They agreed back in Nov. to do it too! It is my understanding that the person who is pregnant shouldn't have to do anything except show up for the shower, right? Well, I gave them a list of people to invite *which I ended up doing* and picked the place *because they couldn't decide*. It is going to be at my church...we planned for Jan 17th, but thats 10 days away and they still haven't booked the event *it is at our church* Luckily my mom is asst. pastor and we won't have to wait for the church council to meet on the 25th before we can ask to use it....the whole thing has been stressing me out, because i feel like it is going to be half assed. I don't know what to say to my friends, I'm never mean and don't want to say anything like "you guys are really slackin'". I feel like just saying "forget it, i won't even have one"....what would you do?
they aren't MY sisters, they are sisters themselves so they should be able to do it together, they stay together and are around eachother all the time and wanted to take on this task together
ALSO....I did not FORCE it on them...they offered because they have been my friends all through growing up...i was going to have another friend throw it

Resolved Question: How does this story sound (The original story isn't mine, this is my typed version of the magna) ?
Akira By Katsuhiro Otomo
Retold by Derrick Crimmer
Book 1
Neo-Tokyo was a bright city in a nation of light. Then around 2021, the city gave itself to the International Alliance, believing that other cities would follow it, that alliance turned to a world domination like group and the unity forced on humankind would cause conflict.
Thus, World war three began.
After the war, the world began to rebuild, but the I.A still ruled. 154 cities are completely under the control of the International Alliance, Neo-Tokyo became the forerunner of politics. The executive council comes to the city to debate on world issues, but the people reject their solutions and riot in the streets constantly.
Perpetually underfunded and yet forced by law to allow any refugee from any nation in the world to enter and take up residence among the "citizens of the world," Neo-Tokyo had become the most overcrowded, poverty-stricken, racially and economically violent city in the world. Gone were the happy citizens, gone the quiet graciousness of life.
Not one person in the city was friendly; not one person had a decent job. The understaffed police did their best to keep order, but there was no order to be kept. And of all the cities of the Re-constructed world, Neo-Tokyo was the largest, the most overcrowded, the least orderly.
It was the city where hope became desperation. The kids, who were the city?s hope, were rounded up and were forced to go to vocational training schools. But in Neo-Tokyo, children had to fight to survive. In Neo-Tokyo, the strong, the rich, the cruel and the heartless of citizens made sure that the weaker ones never got anything.
Neo-Tokyo, indeed, was the darkest city in the alliance.?

Chapter 1: Joy ride
Near the highway, 16 year old Kaneda took his gang on a little ?joy ride?.
?Come on guys! Let take the old 26 highway to the old city, if you can keep up!? Kaneda yelled
?Lead the way where right behind ya!? Kai yelled out
Kaisuke was 15 and was one of Kaneda?s earliest friends. They went to the same school when they were kids.
The old city was dark; plants were growing all inside the buildings and skyscrapers. Animals were running wild. New life emerged where humans once were.
The group stopped at a closed down toll booth. A few of them got the gates free.
?That?s it!? he said
The group started up their bikes, already Kaneda was through.
?Come on Tetsuo! Let?s show em!? Kaneda yelled
Tetsuo Shima was also 15 and was Kaneda?s first and best friend. The two were inseparable, until now.
Kaneda landed with a thud, everyone else followed.
?The problem with you Kalil is you try to push your luck!? Yamagata said
Yamagata is 17 and went to the same school as Kaneda, Kai and Tetsuo. All four are friends.
*
The group went into a partly collapsed tunnel. Kaneda was the first to ?see it?, he signaled everyone to stop. He (Kaneda) stopped suddenly, he looked outwards too see a pitch black horizon.
?This is it, where here? Kaneda said
The group, the highway, the old city were dwarfed in comparison by an enormous crater than seem to span forever.
?Why we?d stop?? Kai demanded
?Cause it?s a dead end, literally.? Yamagata said
?This is the 2nd phenomenon; this is where the bomb fell.? Michiko said
?I?ve never seen a bomb leave a crater, no one has.? Yamagata said
?That?s because that?s a new form of bombs the terrorists created, their always makin? somethin ?new.? Kai said
?Man this place is creepy? Yamagata said
?Obviously, we made a wrong turn. Let?s go back? Michiko said
?Why, you afraid of the dark?? Kaneda asked
?Cause there gonna bury this for this new construction project.? Michiko said
?Stop lyin? Yamagata said
?Tell him Tetsuo? Michiko said
?It?s true. There already building the foundations or whatever they call them things all over here? Tetsuo said.
?Why are we here anyway?? Yamagata asked
?No reason?? Kaneda said
?Come on guys! Were outta here! Let?s eat at Harukiya?s Last one there pays the check!? Kaneda yelled out
*
The group left the area. They turned left, right, right again. Suddenly, Tetsuo sped past everyone.
?Ya?ll follow me now!? Tetsuo yelled out
?Tetsuo, whaca doin??!? Kaneda yelled
?Now ya?ll have to follow me!? Tetsuo yelled.
?We?ll see!? Kaneda yelled
Not too far, Tetsuo spotted a strange child in his path. He tried to swerve past him, but for no apparent reason, his bike exploded. A few members nearly missed the fire but met concrete instead.
?Tetsuo!!? Kaneda yelled trough the commotion
Kaneda took off his helmet and ran to the strange boy.
?What the hell are you doin out here?!---? Kaneda yelled

Open Question: Why do J. Witnesses say that hell doesn't exist?
Please don't say something like 'Gehenna or hell means trash heap.' The verses below clearly talk about hell which is thrown into the lake of fire as an eternal place of torment:
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to EVERLASTING life, and some to shame and EVERLASTING contempt.
?Daniel 12:2
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ?You fool!? will be liable to the hell of fire.
?Matthew 5:22
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
?Matthew 10:28
And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the UNQUENCHABLE FIRE. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
?Mark 9:44
And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH THE LAKE OF FIRE. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
