Resolved Question: 3G Phone Masts. Are they harmful?
Here is an anecdotal report from Worcester: http://www.mast-victims.org/index.php?content=journal&action=view&type=journal&id=11 The family claim quite serious health effects from this mast that was put on a flagpole on top of a restaurant. They also observed that all the birds left the adjoining park. When it went to the High Court, they ruled against the family and in favour of 3G Hutchinson, a large corporation who then presented the family with a large bill for legal expenses - they used only the best lawyers. The judge ruled there were no ill effects produced by a 3G mast and that the plaintiff was imagining it. The family have been ruined by this decision and cannot afford to appeal. This opens the way to put another mast on a primary school as a way of reducing public spending and therefore financing the bail-out for merchant bankers. The Council feels that the benefits of comprehensive mobile coverage in cities outweighs any public health considerations, especially since a High Court judge ruled they were negligible. I really do not know, and welcome answers here. Is this technology safe? Another property next door to the same mast is up for sale. Should I register an interest? What bothers me a lot is when conflicts of interest get in the way of science or law. It opens the gates to conspiracy theories (many quite justified) when all I really want is truth and know how far that goes. Has anyone attempted to get the same symptoms of headaches, malaise, disappearance of birds and bees and cancer in local residents by erecting a mast in a blaze of protest and publicity, but secretly not turning it on? Hamburgers - wasn't there this infamous case of a Government minister feeding his own child a hamburger in the midst of the Mad Cow scare and nearly getting arrested for child abuse? More to the point, there was this fellow who went on a Big Mac diet for a month and become quite seriously ill. So they are not completely harmless, but at least we know the risks well enough.
