The Forest
The Forest Two campers Sharon and Teddy are terrorized in the deep dark woods of the California wilderness by a cannibalistic knife-wielding madman. Teddy is killed but Sharon manages to escape. That same night their boyfriends, Steve and Charlie, take refuge in an old cave to protect themselves from the storm. There they meet the killer an old man wearing a beat up old baseball cap named John. He tells them the story of how he walked in on his unfaithful wife and her lover. He killed them both, and gathered his two children and ran off into the forest. Unfortunately, his kids got sick and they commited suicide. Since then, he has developed a taste for human flesh and will kill anybody who trespasses on his territory. The next morning, Charlie is drowned and prepared for the killer's breakfast. He then goes looking for Sharon, who has, unbeknownst to him, teamed up with the ghosts of his two dead children. The maniac chases Sharon but just as he's about to kill her his ghost kids save her. He runs off into the wilderness to find the wounded Steve, who has broken his leg. Can Sharon save her boyfriend in time? AKA: Terror In the Forest

Tech 4 O Accelerator Women's Running Watch
Tech 4 O Accelerator Women's Running Watch Whether you're a hardcore adventure hiker, an avid runner, or simply looking to count your doctor's recommended 10k steps a day, an Accelerator Series watch fits the bill. Advanced accelerometer technology provides highly accurate readings of a user's speed, distance, and caloric expenditure via a simple wrist watch sensor, eliminating the need for funny looking foot pods or belt clips. Accelerometer technology is 95+% accurate, and much more dependable than traditional pendulum based pedometers. GPS-based running products are very expensive, complicated, and aren't reliable for indoor training or under heavy tree cover. The Accelerator Series is the perfect combination of accurate readings, simplicity of use, and stylish design.

Speed & Distance Pedometer

  • Highly accurate step counter with adjustable sensitivity allows users to tune the sensors to their individual walking style. Doctors everywhere are now recommending 10k steps a day to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
  • All sensors are contained in a simple wrist watch. That means no funny looking mechanical belt clips our funky shoe pods.
  • Get off the beaten path! Free yourself from mileage markers at the track or trail! Pick a new route every day! The Accelerator can automatically distinguish between running and walking, and can calculate your average speed, distance, caloric expenditure, and total exercise time.
  • The Accelerator has a delayed step counter feature that differentiates between ancillary movements and actual steps. This feature provides users with the most accurate results by delaying calculation until it has registered 10 steps in a row to eliminate false step counting.
  • The smart scheduling features allows users to set the pedometer to automatically start/stop counting steps at a predetermined time every day, so you'll never forget to turn it on.

Personal Profile

  • This feature allows users to customize their watch to their specific body type and walking/running style. No matter how fast or slow, tall or short, each user can personally enter their weight, average walking stride, and average running stride in order to ensure accurate results.
  • Hikers can easily account for loaded pack weights.
  • Runners can dial in the stride length to account for varying terrain and/or speed workouts.
  • Quickly adjust weight and stride lengths as conditioning improves.

Chronograph

  • The accelerator series' powerful stopwatch features allow users to record exact results to within 1/100th of a second for up to 50 laps and a total time of 24 hours.
  • Although the watch has several advanced ways of calculating speed and distance, the old-school chronograph still has a place and purpose.

Countdown Timer

  • A simple countdown timer can come in real handy at times. Set it for 10 minutes as a quick reminder. Use it to monitor your running/walking pace and set speed goals. Alternative Time Zone
  • Great for those that travel! Allows users to set and display an alternative time zone along with the current home time display. Never lose track of time no matter where you are.

Daily Alarm Mode

  • We are all creatures of habit in our daily routines. The daily alarm is a great way to set a daily reminder or morning wake up alarm.

How the Technology Works
The underlying technology in the Accelerator Series Watches is an accelerometer sensor. Accelerometers are used to measure acceleration. Originally developed during the Space Race to replace outdated gyroscopes, accelerometers can be found in a diverse range of today's products such as automobile air bags and tilt meters. In the Accelerator watch, a user's movement (acceleration) produces varying degrees of electric current within the sensor, allowing the watch to detect different levels of acceleration, and therefore measure speed and distance.

Another way to explain how an accelerometer sensor works is to envision a marble in a bowl. When the bowl is moved, or accelerated, the marble inside will roll (accelerate) along the bottom and sides of the bowl. When the bowl is accelerated faster, the marble will move a greater distance up the sides. The accelerometer sensor in the Accelerator Series watch acts like an electronic marble in a bowl. With every step forward, the wearer of the watch (bowl) is accelerating forward. By measuring the acceleration of the "marble", the software inside the watch can then calculate the wearer's speed and distance.

The Competition
There are really only a few different ways to calculate the speed and distance of human-powered, on-foot travel. The first was basic math, next came the mechanical pedometer, followed by satellite tracking GPS years later. Mechanical pedometers are cheap and abundant, but also highly unreliable. They operate on a simply pendulum clicker that relies on the walker's hip movement to count steps. Unfortunately, mechanical pedometers end up counting a lot of non-walking movements and assume that walkers are making consistent and repetitive steps.

GPS technology is impressive, but also expensive, complex, and not always ideal for outdoor activities or indoor training. Satellite signals can be lost in heavily forested areas, indoors, or behind large buildings and receiving signals eats up batteries. When a good signal can be found, often the device does not receive info often enough to account for twisty backcountry trails.

The Future
The Tech 4 O Accelerator Series fills the void between old mechanical pedometers and the overkill of GPS. A simple, yet versatile, wrist-watch design can provide extremely accurate speed and distance data in all conditions.

Open Question: Question of The ransom of Red Cheif?
If you are kidnappers, how would ensure that you succeed? Summary of the ransom of Red Cheif This story tells of a young boy held for ransom by two money hungry criminals, Bill Driscoll and Sam Howard. The two men are fugitives who have escaped to the Deep South searching for an easy way to get their hands on $2,000 they need in order to launch a land fraud scheme in Illinois. They set their sights on the quiet town of Summit, Alabama because of the philoprogenitiveness - love for one's own children - that they believe is common in rural communities. Bill and Sam decide they will kidnap the son of an important citizen named Ebenezer Dorset, demand a ransom of $2,000, quickly collect the payoff, and be on their way. However, once they actually kidnap the boy and make their way to a hideout in the nearby hills, their plan quickly begins to unravel. Their young captive, a malevolent, redheaded brat who calls himself "Red Chief", actually enjoys his stay with his kidnappers, and thinks he is on a camping trip. Red Chief proceeds to drive his captors to distraction with pranks and demands that they play wearying games with him, such as pretending to be a scout and using Bill as his horse. Bill and Sam are soon desperate to be rid of the little terror; they lower the price to $1,500 but still receive no answer. When they receive a reply to their ransom letter from Red Chief's father offering to take the boy off their hands for $250. But when the men bring Red Chief to his home he doesn't want to leave. He then tries to stay with the two kidnappers but is held back by his father. The two kidnappers run away as quickly as they can. (more...)

Open Question: Mac Leopard - worth upgrading to?
I have tiger, but it's looking a little dull. I'm looking for an upgrade but i'm worried it will waste too much precious memory. Is it worth upgrading to or should I try boot camp. Open Question: Why can't Egypt absorb some Palestinian refugees?
I mean I'm all too aware we already have hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, but they live in refugee camps and they don't have the rights of Egyptians. Why can't we absorb ten or twenty or thirty thousand Palestinians and put them in a decent settlement like the ones that pop up every minute now, with a mosque and a church and a hospital and paved roads and schools and an integrated mass transit? WH - 1, it seems like many Palestinians /are/ trying to leave and are not welcomed abroad, and 2, the Jews today don't need aid or relief while the Palestinians do. (more...)

Open Question: Should fat people be forced to lose weight?
(If a fat person has an actual medical problem(laziness does not count) or disability that causes them to be fat this does not apply) They produce incredible strain on the healthcare system(Just like they do on anything they sit on) and have done it to themselves, they may be taking up a bed(or 2) from someone who is ill by no fault of their own. Open Question: Why do Christians say that stoning someone to death is not cruel?
I am discussing this verse in the bible: Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day....Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp."So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. And they said it was God's law so it is ok for him to stone people to death, but i find it primitive and cruel, why do Christians have such a weird way of looking in injustice? (more...)

Open Question: Is the bible God the same yesterday, today and tomorrow?
Here is something that he commanded once upon a time: Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day....Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp."So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. But if he was that cruel back then, wouldn't he be that cruel now? Did God change in any way? So stoning someone to death is not cruel then? (more...)

Open Question: How much would a month long holiday to the US cost?
I plan to fly to LA, and travel cross-country by coach and train through the Southwest, South and up the east to Boston before flying back to LA and then back home to Australia. I plan to stay in fairly affordable accommodation, and don't mind staying in hostels, camping etc. I haven't calculated or consulted a travel agent or anything, and just wonder roughly how much I would need not including airfare if I were to go for a month-long, self-guided cross country tour of the States. Thanks. (more...)

Open Question: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SHORT STORY I WROTE?
tell me what you think and, if you can, correct some of my grammar mistakes. i grammar/spell checked it already and it still has loooaddds of errors. Erica walked slowly through the rows of different sized tents. Searching for the one that belonged to her grandmother. It was a cold day in the underground. So most of the people where in their tents where it was some what warm. She wandered around the rows of tents, searching for a familiar, small red and grey one. Finally she found her grandmas tent hidden behind two larger ones. "Grandma?" said Erica, in an unsure voice as she attempted to 'knock' on the tent. "Yes, Dear," sang a old voice from the tent "Come in Dear" Erica unzipped the tent door with no struggle, and climbed in. She was greeted by a warm hug from her loving Grandmother. " Would you like something to eat Erica?" said her grandmother with wide eyes. "No I'm fine thank you" said Erica knowing for a fact that the only thing that her grandma would have to eat would be dehydrated berries and dates. Her and her grandmother talked for a while about her mother and her sister, but Erica was here to talk about something different... The outside world. "Grandma..?" said Erica interrupting her grandmother while she rambled on about nothing. "Yes sweetie, what is it?" said her smiling grandmother. "I was wondering...if you could tell me about the outside world?" Her Grandmothers smiling face faded to a questioning glare. "Why would you want to hear about that?" said her grandmother sternly. "I'm almost fourteen grandma, don't you think its about time I know about the world before this?" asked Erica tilting her head slightly to one side. Her grandma looked away for a moment and then back at Erica. "Oh I suppose so." said her grandma with a sigh. She knew Erica was right, she did have the right to know about the 'outside' Her Grandma began telling the story... "Well Erica about 14 years ago, when you where just a baby, the earth was wonderful... the land was green, all country's where finally at peace with each other, and mostly everyone was happy. Now that I think of it we lived in a close to perfect world...then something terrible happened..." Erica's Grandmother paused for a second. Erica could have sworn she saw a tear I her grandmas eye. Her grandma breathed in deeply and continued "back to what I was telling you. something terrible happened, there where news reports all over television that different parts of the world where being invaded by unknown creatures. Everyday there was a new news update. The wave of chaos was getting closer and closer to where we lived. Soon half the worlds population was wiped out. Afraid for our lives, and for our children too, about five hundred or so of us fled to the underground, the only safe place we knew. We blocked the only entrance to the underground with rock and debris. and we have remained here ever since...no one really knows if there's survivors. Or if the creatures are even still there" "Well don't you think someone should go out and explore to see if the creatures are still on earth and search for survivors?" said Erica excitedly "We cant take any chances, and every one is terrified of what the outside world might look like." her grandmother said shaking her head and pursing her lips. Their was a long pause, Erica eyes wandered from her grandmother and scanned across the tents interior. "well, I could go explore the outside?" said Erica with a smile on her face. her grandma chuckled to herself "Erica, honey the 'outside' is no place for a little girl, who knows what out there! plus getting to the opening that leads to the outside is very difficult because of all the animals and monsters that live out side our camp. you could get hurt or killed." worried her grandmother "Ill be fine! I'm sure the creatures don't live on the surface anymore! Please grandma let me prove to you!" pleaded Erica to her grandmother. "I already told you no Erica. Its getting late now, get yourself ready for bed." Said her grandmother patting her softly on the shoulder. Erica lay in her sleeping bag until her grandmother was fast asleep. When her grandmother started snoring loudly, Erica was positive her grandma was not waking up any time soon. Erica gathered few supplies for her adventure, a water jug, a thin blanket, a flashlight, and a kitchen knife for protection. She also took some of her grandmas dried dates and berries. Just incase she got hungry on the journey. Erica looked down at her sleeping grandmother and imagined her panicking in the morning, wondering where she was. Erica found a small tear of paper on the ground and used it to write a note telling her grandma that she had gone to explore the outside, and that she shouldn't worry about her because she was going to be perfectly fine. Erica snatched her shawl off the ground, wrapped it around her self, looked at her grandma one more time hoping that it wasn't the last time she would see her. Erica unzipped t (more...)
