I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection
I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection Assured, headstrong Joan Webster (Wendy Hiller) knows exactly what she wants and how to get it, until she's stranded in a rough, windswept Scottish village--in sight but out of reach of an island where a rich fiancée, a lavish wedding, and a loveless marriage await. While a raging storm prevents her crossing, a quiet, modest, and penniless Scottish laird named Torquil (Roger Livesey) slowly wins her cheerfully mercenary heart and upsets her carefully arranged plans with messy emotions. Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's much-loved romantic drama is a handsome work full of vivid, offbeat characters (Pamela Brown is especially striking as an earthy villager always accompanied by a pack of bloodhounds) living in a world that's part tradition and part myth. Villagers work and celebrate with the simple spirit of common folk ("We're not poor, we just haven't any money," Torquil admonishes the materialist Joan). Powell brings his lively manner and bold visual invention to the creation of his beautiful but harsh primal paradise, culminating in the awesome spectacle of a massive whirlpool that could be the work of the "legend of Corryvreckan" or the stormy embodiment of Joan's hysterical heart. Awash in mystic power of ancient castles and chanted legends, I Know Where I'm Going is one of the most romantic visions of Britain's most magical director. --Sean Axmaker

The Treasure
The Treasure An ex-harem slave...

A reformed assassin...

A race to find the most powerful
religious artifact of all time...

New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen returns with her first historical romance in a decade, a new novel of passion and exotic adventure that leads two unlikely and unforgettable treasure hunters on a perilous journey—and into the heart of one of the most captivating mysteries of all time.

Lady Selene Ware had been nothing more than a harem slave when Kadar Ben Arnaud—a man once trained in the black arts of death and seduction—helped her escape to the safety of her native Scotland. But even a world away she still wasn’t safe from the sheikh who claimed her as his stolen property—and who now forced both her and Kadar to return with a chance to win their freedom. There is, of course, a catch. First they must find the legendary religious relic that men of power have searched for from King Arthur’s time to the present.

For Selene and the ex-assassin, it is a dangerous odyssey that begins in erotic captivity and leads to an encounter with the mysterious and reclusive Tarik, who now possesses the treasure. But the truth is far more explosive, the stakes far more deadly, and the closer they come to discovering the secret, the closer they will come to losing each other—and their lives. For even as Selene grasps the key to this age-old mystery, Kadar may have to step over the fine line separating the dark path from the light to save her.

Spell of the Highlander (The Highlander Series, Book 7)
Spell of the Highlander (The Highlander Series, Book 7) Powerful. Sensual. Seductive. He is all that is shamelessly erotic in a man. In her sexiest Highlander novel yet, New York Times bestselling author Karen Moning stirs up a sizzling brew of ancient mystery and modern passion as she brings together a devilishly handsome Celtic warrior trapped in time . . . and the woman who’s about to pay the ultimate price for freeing him. Age-old secrets haunt them. Deadly danger and irresistible desire shadow their every move. It’s a relationship for the ages. And all that separates them is a mere thirteen hundred years. . . .

Jessi St. James has got to get a life. Too many hours studying ancient artifacts has given the hardworking archaeology student a bad case of sex on the brain. So she figures she must be dreaming when she spies a gorgeous half-naked man staring out at her from inside the silvery glass of an ancient mirror. But when a split-second decision saves her from a terrifying attempt on her life, Jessi suddenly finds herself confronting six and a half feet of smoldering, insatiable alpha male.

Heir to the arcane magic of his Druid ancestors, eleven centuries ago Cian MacKeltar was trapped inside the Dark Glass, one of four coveted Unseelie Hallows, objects of unspeakable power. When the Dark Glass is stolen, an ancient enemy will stop at nothing to reclaim it, destroying everything in his path–including the one woman who may just hold the key to breaking the ninth-century Highlander’s dark spell. For Jessi, the muscle-bound sex god in the mirror is not only tantalizingly real, he’s offering his protection–from exactly what, Jessi doesn’t know. And all he wants in exchange is the exquisite pleasure of sharing her bed.

Yet even as Cian’s insatiable hunger begins to work its dark magic on Jessi, his ancient enemy is about to obtain the final and most dangerous of the Unseelie Hallows–and the ninth-century Highlander must stop him from getting it. Nothing less than the very fabric of the universe and two passionately entwined lives are at stake–as Cian and Jessi fight to claim the kind of love that comes along but once in an ice age. . . .

Open Question: What shall we do for Valentines day?
I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 21. We've been together for just over a year. We both live in Aberdeen (Scotland). I'm really wanting to do something a bit different for Valentines day. We did the whole romantic meal thing last year and although it was nice, it wasn't really us! Anywhere in Scotland is a possibility, so long as we can get there on the train or bus! We can't go to each others houses for a romantic night in as we both have family that will be in on that night. Suggestions? Thanks x (more...)

Resolved Question: Do these sound like good summaries? Would you read them if they were published?
BOOK ONE: ?Separation? is a Romantic tale of an ordinary woman, whom was snatched from her home at the tender age of eight. Roxanna Reed was taken to a torture camp in Scotland, where she was brutally assaulted, raped and abused. It took nine long devastating years for her to escape and when she finally manages to, she meets a friendly man in Bradley Maguire, who turns out to be not so friendly when he?s unmasked as one of the torture group. Having fallen in love with him so quickly before she learns his true identity, she tragically allows herself to be put through the agony of The Chambers once more as he takes her back. Not long later, the secret of The Chambers is out and Bradley disappears, leaving Roxanna to find her way home to her family. Just weeks after her arrival in Leicestershire, she meets Jack Michael Weller, a wealthy businessman who just so happens to be Bradley?s most hated enemy. As the hidden secrets of Bradley?s past and the heartbreaking part Jack played in them are revealed, things start spiral out of control. As history repeats itself for Bradley, Roxanna finds her life at stake when the heroin addict stabs her while thinking she is his beloved Jessica who had left him heartbroken when she committed suicide years ago just weeks after her adultery with Jack Weller. BOOK TWO: ?Truth behind the Lies? is the follow-up of the Romantic tale of ?Separation?. And is the tale of Gabrielle Maddison who is an up-for-anything kind of girl but soon realises the danger of marrying a stranger as her newly wedded husband?s deranged brother drugs her and whisks her off to a torture chamber in Scotland. Having had a rougher time than most after failing an escape attempt, malicious Bradley Maguire takes pity on her and chooses her as his next play thing. But Gabrielle soon finds herself back in Harvey Maddison?s hands as he has a nervous breakdown, locks her up where nobody sane would ever think of looking for her then confesses the secrets of the torture chamber to the police. Bradley plays the hero for a second time as he rescued her, then keeps her by his side as part of his twisted plan to steal the supposed love of his life?s heart from his most hated enemy. Gabrielle later plays a huge part in the involvement of Roxanna Reed?s vicious stabbing as she steals Jack Weller?s house key. Drugs, lies and unrequited love causes vast problems between love-sick Jack Weller, heroin addict Bradley Maguire, pregnant Roxanna Reed as the love triangle goes unsolved. **They're a part of a three book series I'm writing. Resolved Question: Is it too early for a Christmas Joke?
A young man called Chris from London wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend. They hadn't been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Scotland . Chris consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note? not too romantic and not too personal. Off he went with his sister to Harrods and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time. Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Chris unknowingly got the knickers. Good old Chris sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter. Dear Maggie, I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove). These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and I hardly noticed any marks. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn't needed to wash it since she began wearing them. I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again. When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing. Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you will wear them for me on our next date. All my love, Chris P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing. (more...)
