ESPN Presents: Jock Jams, Volume 4
Perfect for athletes--budding, established, weekend, or even armchair. The Jock Jams series (along with the Jock Rock and Slam Jams series) collects top hits in their most danceable, groove-shaking format--perfect for a workout or a party where you want to feel like you're at a stadium. There's plenty to like here: Puff Daddy's toe- tapping, posthumous tribute to Biggie Smalls, "Mo Money Mo Problems"; the annoyingly catchy "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" from the Backstreet Boys; Fatboy Slim's wicked nick of the riff from the Who's "I Can't Explain" on "Going Out of My Head." There's even some fun vintage Jock Jams tracks, such as Salt 'N Pepa's "Push It" and House of Pain's "Jump Around." Still, who would have thought that a song with the refrain "pissing the night away" would end up as a jock anthem? Certainly not Chumbawamba, even though "Tubthumping" makes an appearance here. The world moves in mysterious ways. --Randy Silver

Verve Remixed, Vol. 2
The sequel to 2002's Verve Remixed follows and improves upon the original's formula; take material from the storied vaults at Verve Records and let top DJs of the modern era have at them. Featuring an impressive roster of dance artists like Miguel Migs, Koop, and Fila Brazillia, the trick is matching DJ with jazz standard in a way that compliments both. It's a tough chore, given the classics involved and the need to do them justice. On Sarah Vaughan's "Whatever Lola Wants," Gotan Project manage the task with distinction, filtering rustic and romantic accordions through the song's lusty machinations. Astute choices are required, like Mondo Grosso's decision to build a solid thump out of just the central melody of Archie Shepp's "Blues For Brother George Jackson." Sometimes, the best thing to do is get out of the way; Mr. Scruff's Soul Party Mix of "Do What You Wanna" only adds some background party noise to Ramsey Lewis' ripping keyboard solo. VR2 doesn't hit the mark every time, but the combinations that work accomplish what only the best dance music does--they crumble the walls between genres and encourage us all to get down together. --Matthew Cooke

Open Question: Will my internship at the State Department be worth the cost?
I got two internships this summer. One at the state department and another to work at almost any non-profit/small govt agency in NYC. Both are about the same length 8-10 weeks in the summer.
The state department internship is my dream but it is unpaid and will cost a lot for housing, food, transporation, security clearance work. But I hear there are perks to working there like free trips to sites plus resume, contatcs, etc... I guess there is a little to do in DC thats not political (for social breaks). Its a city.
The one in Manhattan pays for all of the above plus a library pass and stipend. I will be living in the upper east side which is really nice. It is research and hands-on.I definitely know I will NOT be doing only paperwork. I get a free preparation course this spring too. There's also a lot to do in NYC.
Which one? I have a week to decide.

Open Question: do you think we should get involved?
please read carefully and to the end before answering. thank you!
considering we already have enough on our plate in the middle east, do you think (if we havent already in some way, shape, or form) should step in at any time to stop whats going on in gaza. we have always backed the israelis to ensure their survival, culture, way of life, and reason to exist, however; this looks to be another vietnam if we get involved. my view on vietnam is this, there was no "cold war," we fought the russians and the russians fought us indirectly by attacking our allies and we attack theirs, since they backed the communist party of korea which was miniscule compared to our allies which preffered democricy in korea, but they won. so in a broad sense we were in conflict with them like coaches to boxers, who is the better of the two? i believe it will never be determined and will be (in my book) a stale mate between USA and Russia until we face off toe to toe to settle once and for all who is the better of the two. we both have potential to destroy the world over, and neither of us wants to find out. good for the rest of the world, but tensions are still there, and collateral damage is what's stopping us from going heads up, since their scientists and advisors and as smart as ours for not testing the theoretic scenario.
i feel this conflict is never going to be resolved and is potential to cause a world war III, since niether side is willing to appretiate the other sides arguement. this has been going on for centuries and will never be at and end until one is eliminated. its like brothers fighting in the same house, nothing is going to be resloved until one moves out, but no one wants to budge. diplomacy will never work, but is the ONLY way to get them to stop, but no one will sit at the table with an open mind. sadly, what do we do before it ends up that palestine takes a page from the nazi book and decides thats the best case scenario for their agenda is to finish what hitler did could not. and even in that era, i feel that we should have gotten involved long before the japanese attacked us. makes no sense that we ended everything just because of a country that was 2nd string when the first string was doing all the damage. what do we do?? do your research and history, please! i wish i could give more then 10 points for this Q, but i wanna know your perspective. (and if you are military, please state)

Open Question: Are there independent wrestling shows (either televised or house) near Salt Lake City, Utah?
I've heard of indies such as ROH and NWA but not attended any live as it seems they're all on the east coast. Is there an indy near Salt Lake City, UT? I don't mean backyard wrestling but actual arena shows where professional wrestlers (past, present, and future) would appear? TNA hasn't come here yet though they did a Las Vegas show and WWE only visits twice a year.

Open Question: What do you think about this joke?
This joke was nominated for best joke of the year.
A Russian arrives in New York City as a new immigrant to the United States. He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me into this country, giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and a free education!"
The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am a Mexican."
The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful countryhere in America."
The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."
The new arrival walks farther, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand, and says, "Thank you for wonderful America!"
That person puts up his hand and says, "I am from Middle East. I am not American."
He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?"
She says, "No, I am from Africa."
Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?"
The African lady checks her watch and says, "Probably at work."
This is not meant to be offensive!!!
I hope you enjoyed it!!
For those that call this joke racist - YOU ARE WRONG!!!!
It does not make fun of people's race!!!!
It talks about different nationalities NOT races!!!
And it is making fun of the American government!!!!

Resolved Question: What would you do if it happened to you?
Let us set aside differences and consider that Jews, Christians, and finally Muslims have been living in peace for centuries before 1940. Taking that into consideration after the formation of the UN, whom consisted of western power house nations namelessly the USA. The UN decided the holocaust was reason enough to forcefully displace people from their own lands in historic Palestine to a small area known as Gaza. Now this is just a simple understanding of the whole truth.
The Matter at hand is territory! Israel gives and takes constantly since the creation of the state of Israel after wwII. As you can imagine Palestinians are constantly forced out militarily. When the UN decided the world will not look at the occurrence with a light heart they force Israel to give it back. Hopefully you can recognize the issue! It?s not a religious problem! Of course, the extremist would love for you to think that....it was and still is the issue. It?s a power struggle between the western alliances and the Middle Eastern coalition.
The Jewish people feel that they deserve this land because they are the oldest religion around and the land belongs to them for ancient religious reasons. (Zionism) Unfortunately, this absolute ideology is the main reason for the conflict. If you would refer to the first point that was made,? Jews, Christians, and finally Muslims have been living in peace for centuries before 1940.? It?s not about religion. It?s about the haves and the have no lands. Take a good look at the historic map of Palestine. Then take good look at the Israeli map as it stands now.
Do not overlook the Palestinian death toll compared to the Israeli. There is a gross difference in deaths. I would go as far and say that genocide has been committed by the Israelis at the demise of Arabs. "Israel has been almost continuously at war throughout its existence with most of the major countries in the Middle East."
Back to the problem at hand! I would ask you! What would you do if this foreign power (UN and Israel) took your land and killed your family constantly for 60 years?
