Whisky Tales
For centuries, whisky has tickled the palettes of the famous and the infamous alike, the good as well as the downright sinful. In this study, Charles MacLean pours a lifetime's passion and knowledge of Scotch whisky into an extraordinary array of anecdotes about this popular drink and those who have loved it—from Robbie Burns, Scotland's best-loved poet, to comedian Dave Allen. This is perfect weekend reading for all whisky lovers—from ghost stories, tales of illicit smuggling operations, and feuding between the Scottish whisky families to poems and literary celebrations of the world's finest spirit and Scotland's most generous gift to the world.

Resolved Question: who would be the most appropriate scottish MP to contact?
I am a tourism student at college and have been given a huge project to do. I chose to base my project on the benefits of achieving the green tourism award for hotels in Scotland. I will also be concentrating on green practises by organisations in Glasgow, and whether these have had any impact on visitor numbers. I was wondering if there is a scottish mp who deals with environmental practises? I would like to find out their opinions of the practises adopted by hotels and visitor attractions in Glasgow, who should i contact? any help would be great!!

Resolved Question: Why do so many English & Irish move to Australia?
Ok, we generally don't mind you lot & yes we helped to a large extent to save you from Hitler, well before the Americans set foot in Europe or Africa in WWII and what was our repayment? Not that you would i good time return our Troops to defend their homeland against the Japanese, but rather you swarm our beaches and hotels like 'blow-ins' from some strange, distant, cold, pale skinned place!
Why do you come in such large numbers and lengthen the ques at the bars waiting for a drink? Ok some of your women can compete with ours, but really England isn't known for producing too many Miss Universe winners are they!
Funnily enough the Irish & Scottish we don't mind, they can at least keep up and most often always return home - broke hahaha.....So why must you all come? Is it that bad in England? Are you lot all 'Bondi dreaming'?
FINALLY, WHY DO THE ENGLISH USE THE WORD 'MATE'? Thats globally known as an Aussie term....

Resolved Question: do I have any legal standing (scottish employment law)?
I was taken on a hotel manager. I employed 2 chefs who then took on the lease of the hotel. I was contracted with original owner and contract said he needed to give me 2 weeks notice if he was ending my employment. He gave me 5 days notice. Chefs wanted me to stay and work for them, we verbally agreed new pay rate and conditions.
The day before they were due take over officially I had an argument with one of the chefs, I might add that this was in a social situation as we were not at work at the time.
The next day I went in to see him and tried to make right our relationship where he refused and said I was no longer required. Do I have any recourse with either my original employer or the new ones.
I was only at the hotel for 4 months

Resolved Question: QE2 Cunard Liner - should it have been sold to Dubai?
as someone who lives in greenock, and someone whose father was part of John Brown Engineering as an apprentice electrician and worked on the QE2 while it was being built - i find it extremely saddening that she has been sold to dubai.
she is a british ship, a testament to scottish shipbuilding at its best and its been sold to stay stationary as a floating hotel resort. i think its extremely insulting to the scottish men who built this liner for it to be sold to such a country so far away and the likliehood of these men ever seeing the liner again is low. i understand the maintenance of a 40 year old liner is extremly difficult and this is one of the reasons leading to its sale.
what do you think?
harriet. your an idiot sweetheart.

Resolved Question: I've heard that England has asked the USA if it would like to become an English dependency.?
The USA would have an English Governor and would have to use the English dictionary. A 2% increase in US taxes would pay for free school meals to all Scottish school children who dislike Haggis.
The British West Indies are supposed to become a huge prison like Alcatraz and the English navy will patrol this.
We would all have to have British ID cards and all oversexed teenagers would be sent to work in London hotels.
Could this be right?

Resolved Question: Is it true that what ya wear says much @ ya? What does it say? & NOT say? Any favourite 'fashion statements'?
What do ya think newlywed KT Tunstall & her drummer/new hubby should wear for their Isle of Skye honeymoon beach photo-shoot for celeb mag fans?
KT Tunstall weds on Scottish isle
Press Assoc. - 2 hours 28 mins ago
Scots singer KT Tunstall has tied the knot on a remote Scottish island.
The 33-year-old wed drummer boyfriend Luke Bullen at a ceremony on the Isle of Skye.
The star booked out the Flodigarry Country House Hotel on the north east of the island for four days for the event, and banns were posted in the town of Portree.
The Suddenly I See singer wore a fitted strapless gown covered in crystals and simple jewellery, while the groom opted for a dark suit.
Bullen, who plays in his wife's band, proposed on Christmas Day when he made a surprise visit to her family home in St Andrews in Fife.
A marquee was erected at the hotel and it is believed the newlyweds were planning to have their photos taken on the nearby beach.
