HISTORY OF PHOTOCHROM PRINTS

The photochrom process was initially developed in Switzerland and was spelled without an "e", so the correct original spelling was actually "photochrom". Once the process was introduced in America, the "e" was added to aid pronunciation. A Photochrom is a color photo lithograph, produced from a black-and-white negative. The final prints were created using different color impressions from multiple lithographic stones. The stones used by the publisher Detroit Photographic Company were imported from Bavaria and coated with a special Syrian 'asphaltum' substance that would be chemically sensitized to light, put in contact with a photographic negative, exposed to the sun for up to several hours, then "developed" in oils of turpentine. A separate stone would be made for each color to be used. A minimum of four stones and as many as fourteen stones might be used for a given image.

Resolved Question: Just how Foolish is our Government?
Connecting the Dots: Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda Involvement in Terrorism Prior to 9/11 Nov. 30, 2006 On the night of November 5, 1990, El Sayid Nosair walked into the Marriot East Side Hotel, pulled out a .357 chrome-plated magnum pistol and shot one bullet into the neck of Rabbi Meir Kahane. Kahane was dead on arrival at the hospital. An engineer by trade, 34-year-old Nosair had donned a knit yarmulke, a religious garment worn by many followers of Kahane, the leader of the radical extremist group known as the Jewish Defense League. As he attempted to flee the scene, Nosair shot 73-year-old Irving Franklin in the leg when he tried to stop him. After jumping out of a taxi cab he had thought was his getaway car, Nosair fired once again, this time hitting a Postal Service Police Officer before being shot and wounded himself.1 Long after Kahane?s funeral, few people realized what type of person they had in custody. El Sayid Nosair was a critical connection to members of what would become Al Qaeda; a connection that was overlooked by members of the U.S. intelligence agencies. So began the first link in the long trail that led to the attacks on September 11th, 2001. Connecting the Dots The Assassination of Meir Kahane A number of arrests were made following Meir Kahane?s assassination. Soon after Nosair?s arrest, accomplices of his were taken into custody as well. These accomplices included an Egyptian named Bilall Alkaisi, a Palestinian named Mohammed Salameh, and the man who was supposed to be driving Nosair?s getaway car, Mahmoud Abouhalima. All of these men were set free a short time after their arrests. The Egyptian ?Blind Sheikh? Omar Abdel Rahman, who served as Nosair?s spiritual advisor, was suspected of involvement but was never taken into custody. All the men discussed here would later become important members of the 1993 World Trade Center cell.2 The defense of El Sayyid Nosair became a rallying cry for jihadist extremists around the world. A defense fund was established for Nosair, with donors including the likes of Osama bin Laden.3 In the end, despite dozens of witnesses who had viewed Kahane?s murder, Nosair was not convicted for the Rabbi?s murder. Instead, Nosair was convicted only of shooting Franklin and Postal Officer Carlos Acosta, and was sentenced to 7.5?22.5 years in prison. The importance of the conviction (or lack thereof) was that it demonstrated to Islamic radicals that even with witnesses and strong evidence, the U.S. criminal justice system was soft and could easily be overcome.4 To continue, copy and paste..(the address is too long to post) Connecting the Dots: Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda Involvement in Terrorism Prior to 9/11 Also..The Supreme Court Grants Habeas Corpus to Detainees at GTMO! http://www.rightcommentary.com/2008/06/13/supreme-court-grants-habeas-corpus-to-detainees-at-gtmo/ Lawyers for GTMO detainees endorse Obama... http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/01/lawyers_for_git.html To me, all of this combined represents one of the most Foolish actions by our government in my lifetime. What do you think? Hey I know this is not a *sexy* question but it will seem a lot more important if we get hit again and most experts say it's just a matter of time! "Stagger Lee" LOL! Dude: you're right..we're asleep at the wheel again. Remember the self absorbed stories that were in the news on Sep, 10, 2001? Hey canam, I hear the Aussies are willing to take them if GTMO is shut down. How long before these fools start protesting that? Mel: I can't argue with that! Here's an interesting story from (september 10, 2001) Afghan leader assassinated by ??? http://articles.latimes.com/2001/sep/10/news/mn-44114 Thanks Bee Bee and Nurse, I know this is an older story but we've been getting some serious warnings lately from some serious people. Blue: It does seem overwhelming at times but maybe if we can pick the top 5 things by priority and tackle those. When that's done then we go on to the next 5. Like chopping down a big damned tree! Open Question: What was the hotel on the East Coast that Christopher Chacon investigated?
I was reading a review of the movie "1408". It said that while being based on a short-story of the same name by Stephen King, it was also based on news-stories of Christopher Chacon investigating a California hotel, and an undisclosed hotel on the East Coast. Does anyone know what this "undisclosed hotel" is? This is about ghosts, so I thought R&R was the best choice. I know it's the Hotel Del Coronado in CA, but I'm talking about the other one the was reportedly much worse, on the East Coast. Sorry, I meant R&S, not "R&R" (more...)

Open Question: Why do people in America regard Israel as defending itself from Arab aggression?
In the US, Israel is portrayed as the underdog, the peace-loving democracy threatened by 22 hostile Arab tyrannies. This is just plain nonsense. As Israeli historians now admit, Israel was founded amidst a wave of Zionist terrroism against the British ( bombing of the King David Hotel etc) and the forcible expulsion and massacre of nearly a million Arabs ( as in Deir Yassin etc): The Arabs did not attack Israel in 1948 so much as intervened to prevent the ethnic cleansing of their brothers, just as the West did in Kosovo. Again, we are told by the Zionist crowd that the Arabs attacked Israel in 1967 when in fact it was the Israelis who threatened Syria and then launched an unprovoked attack on the Egyptian air force. And in the present conflict: No mention is made of Israel breaches of the ceasefire with Hamas , the assassinations and incursions, that led to Hamas resuming rocket fire. Why don't people see Israel for what it is: a racist, brutal, apartheid militarisitic state that shows disdain for human rights and is the principle cause of the violence and chaos in the Middle East? MEPHISTO: Israel is armed with nukes...it could literally wipe all the Arab nations of the earth. Militarily, only Iran comes even near to Israel's capability. (more...)

The assassination of British Middle East envoy Lord Moyne Terror bombing of King David Hotel in which 92 people killed The overnight massacre of 260 residents in village of Deir Yassin The assassination of Swedish UN envoy Count Folke-Bernadotte appointed by USA to mediate between Arabs & Jews.. The assassination of Alex Odeh, head of American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in California. Terrorists enter village at night & shoot 47 Palestinians in cold blood. These were all Terrorist attacks carried out in pursuit of their cause for a state of Israel. Have people forgotten they achieved the state of Israel through a campaign of terror? Open Question: Is it time for the Prime Minister to recuse certain appointments due to conflict of interest ?
and review the efficacy that existing and potential placements have on diplomatic policy and process. Rohitha has stated in the press that certain posts have been filled with "caretaker" diplomats until new corps can be trained but I wonder why there are newly created appointments at new venues staffed with persons without any diplomatic expertise and truly nepotistic connections? I would remind that for every overstep of power there is a remedy. When common sense is not a sensibility, a full accounting of diplomatic resources is neccesitated. This includes a full review of qualifications of the present and past diplomatic porfolio. I wither the thought of how some people achieved their thoughts on democratic diplomacy. Selective recollection of conversation is no excuse for prohibition of established procedures of good governance. http://www.lakbimanews.lk/news/laknew4.htm Just because we have had a protracted war on terrorism it does not mean that a fisticuff between and within the three branches is acceptable. I would hasten all those I spoke with to recall that the primary policy of Sri Lanka that was discussed was equal opportunity for growth, equal representation under the law, equal distribution of services, equal justice. I am sure that if a certain 24 year old son-in-law-to-be found himself party to an executable offense in the Middle East that the Foreign Ministry would be in an uproar, but I have to hear a query about 2 nationals that were executed yesterday. I am not commenting on Saudi legistlature, or the justice or injustice of such. My inquiry is rooted in the fact that the Ministry that oversees such affairs is apparently more interested in cocktail parties and junkets with golf club managers than it is in its citizens. The stability, policy and efficacy of a government cannot be based on whether the Chief Executive is in town. It cannot be based on created false tests to verify standards. It cannot be bantered or bartered about. I see much commendable development in Sri Lanka but future development will not be based on political posturing/jockeying it will be based on the fullfilment of the equitable goals to bring energy, quality education, due process, security and better quality of life to the many. It will not happen overnight and it cannot be fabricated, it must be grown-thus prefabrication is out of the question. There is no such thing as democracy-in-a-box, but the unruly behaviour that has spread throughout the world will be put in check, everywhere including Sri Lanka. What I am seeing in this article is the propogation of engineered foods, an item that is not a part of our domestic or foreign policy. The Ministries are to forward the National Policy not personal agenda. It is apparent that a National/International Policy Statement needs to be created by the Executive and the Cabinet. Line item #1 is to eliminate terrorism while maintaining sovreignity. Prior to making appointments consider the dis-appointments of misplaced placements. Furthermore, refrain from tete-a-tete's with foreign leaders in hotel rooms when there exists government accomodations for meetings that pertain to governmental affairs. Consider this my request to Nasheed for full divulgence to the Executive. Please pass my congratulations to Linda Spelenwade(sp?) my number is at the LA Consul and with the President's Secretary. This is to be a time of national pride - I ask all our citizens to cloak yourselves in our national identity. Its our flag and our country. (more...)
