Rent, the show that in 1996 gave voice to a Broadway generation, has finally become an energetic, passionate, and touching movie musical. Based loosely on Puccini's La Bohčme, it focuses on the year in the life of a group of friends in New York's East Village--"bohemians" who live carefree lives of art, music, sex, and drugs. Well, carefree until Mark, an aspiring filmmaker (Anthony Rapp), and Roger, an aspiring songwriter (Adam Pascal), find out they owe a year's rent to Benny (Taye Diggs), a former friend who had promised them free residence when he married the landlord's daughter. Roger has also attracted the attention of his downstairs neighbor, Mimi (Rosario Dawson), while Mark's former girlfriend, Maureen (Idina Menzel), has found a new romance in a lawyer named Joanne (Tracie Thoms). Philosophy professor Tom (Jesse L. Martin) finds his soul mate in drag queen Angel (Wilson Jermaine Heredia). But because this is the late-'80s, the threat of AIDS is always present. The remarkable thing about Rent the movie is that nearly 10 years after the show debuted on Broadway, six of the eight principals return in the roles they originated. They're a bit older than would be ideal for their characters, but they do have the advantage of having learned the show directly from creator Jonathan Larson (who died of an aortic aneurysm while the show was in previews), plus they started young--we're not exactly talking Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford here. Alongside a polished performance like Rapp's--sometimes observer-commentator, sometimes participant in two of the score's showstoppers, "The Tango Maureen" and "La Vie Boheme"--the two new additions (Thoms in place of Fredi Walker, Dawson in place of the edgier Daphne Rubin-Vega) slip comfortably into the ensemble; the pivotal Dawson makes a seductive case as Mimi when she tempts Roger in the mesmerizing "Light My Candle" or burns up the stage of the Catscratch Club in "Out Tonight." Moviegoers who have an aversion to people who break into song while walking down the street probably won't have their minds changed by Rent (even if they are singing rock songs), and the gritty subject matter and lack of big-name stars make it unlikely to cross over to general audiences the way Chicago did. But fans of musicals should find "Seasons of Love" as stirring as ever, and the show's passionate admirers--the "Rentheads"--probably couldn't have wished for a more sympathetic director than Rent fan Chris Columbus, or a more faithful representation of the show they love. --David Horiuchi

On Moonlight Bay
America's love affair with clean-cut, tomboyish, freckle-faced Doris Day got a boost with On Moonlight Bay, a period piece from 1951. The film's masterstroke: put Doris in an old-timey musical full of small-town family values and vintage songs. Another inspiration: pair off Doris again with that chesty-voiced man's man and future Rodgers and Hammerstein stalwart, Gordon MacRae (they'd already made Tea for Two and The West Point Story). The story is drawn from Booth Tarkington's Penrod tales, although the movie is also under the sway of Meet Me in St. Louis. The WWI-era family is anchored by parents Leon Ames (the pop from St. Louis) and Rosemary De Camp, with echt-Fifties boy Billy Gray (later of Father Knows Best) as Day's bratty younger brother. Mary Wickes, cinema's eternal sassy housekeeper, provides comic relief. So does radio crooner Jack Smith, who would later host You Asked for It on TV for many years, as Day's maladroit suitor (he's really funny--too bad Preston Sturges never got a hold of him). The material is so relentlessly wholesome you might have to pinch yourself that anybody really believed it, but audiences sure wanted to. The film's popularity prompted a sequel, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, with most of the cast intact. --Robert Horton

Open Question: Where is the best place to find these Jerseys?
I'm trying to find 2 jerseys.
1. Large Roberto Luongo home Vancouver Canucks jersey
2. Jeremiah Johnson home Oregon Ducks jersey.
The problem with the Jeremiah Johnson jersey is that I can't seem to find one with the name on the back. The problem with the Canucks jersey is that hockey jerseys are insanely expensive. Before XMas, I could have found a Luongo jersey on eBay for under $100, but now the only ones I can find are the alternate jersey, and I want the main home jersey with the C on it that says "Vancouver."
Any ideas? I live on the East Coast, so it would most definitely have to be an online store.

Open Question: How much would a month long holiday to the US cost?
I plan to fly to LA, and travel cross-country by coach and train through the Southwest, South and up the east to Boston before flying back to LA and then back home to Australia. I plan to stay in fairly affordable accommodation, and don't mind staying in hostels, camping etc.
I haven't calculated or consulted a travel agent or anything, and just wonder roughly how much I would need not including airfare if I were to go for a month-long, self-guided cross country tour of the States. Thanks.

Resolved Question: Do you believe in rights? ?
Do you?
I want you to think about this before you answer. What is a right? or put another way "A god given right" Is being able to vote, a right? What about the right of freedom of speech?
Now when I think about my "rights" I like to change some words around to see how they sound. "I am allowed to vote" "Im allowed to say what ever I want in my own home"
And as I say these and change the words around I find that these rights sound more like privilege's, a right in my head is something that can not be taken away. Looking into my rights, I as a human only have one the right to die.
Humans have no rights, right are an idea, a good idea, but just an idea.
Humans a around the world have no so called "rights" in Africa they have no "rights" to food. In the middle east they no "right" to believe in what they want to.
Look at "rights" they are human written and selected to suit a need.
according to "rights" It is a human right to protest but in the UK everyone knows protesting is asking for trouble, pretty much same in the states.
So for me to think I have rights is just a privilege.
And to think one has "rights" would be foolish

Open Question: WOuld you want to read this?
Julianna never was the richest, never was the prettiest, and defiantly was never the skinniest. But she had Dustin and that's all that mattered. But when Dustin leaves her for a richer, prettier, and way skinnier girl what is she left to do? As she looks down at her size eight jeans she just knows she has to be skinny. But when people get pushed to their limit they sometimes do things drastic. So now two years later she is 84 pounds and sixteen and still attempting to lose weight. Her mom is so busy she doesn't notice until Julianna hits the floor. And now she is off to the East side Recovery center. The one problem is her mom doesn't have enough money to pay for it, so she has to pull extra shifts at the diner leaving her little sister Molly home alone. What is Julianna supposed to do? She is turning her families life upside down. So when she starts to get hate letters from Molly and her mother stops visiting she begins to feel like no one cares if she is alive or not, and the people there aren't helping either. Her counselor tells her shes a nobody and the guards don't even remember her name. She just wants someone to care about her. Is there anyone who can save her, before she gets pushed to far? This is called Julianna's cause.

Like to party, but also hang out with good friends or stay home and relax and catch a good movie. Drive a sports car ( Dark Blue Cobalt Supercharged) and work for a fortune 500 Bank. I have had quite a bit of hook ups with very attractive women. Ages 21-29. Never younger than me. BUT i never disrepect them until they disrespect me. By that i mean this. I always tell any woman up front that i am not looking for a relationship. But when they start catching feelings and getting mad at me for not wanting more then thats when i get mad. With that said a lot of women do not like my lifestyle. Women.... Is my lifestyle that bad, and should i start dating again?
Oh excuse me first off i didnt mean to post this up on this side. Second i do know how to dress myself. Its women like you who make men undecided b/c we have to worry about your smarta** comments. I am not bragging about my hookups. I just put it out there. Bragging would say that these women are all 8's, 9's, and 10's which they are. But i didnt need to mention that. So before you answer any one elses question make sure you dont act like a smarta**. It turns me off. And thats why this question is up there. So thanks to the first response this is why i am torn between having a woman or not.

Resolved Question: United states Marine core schooling after bootcamp.?
Okay so my husbands in the process of joining the usmc and i was just wondering a few things...
i know that bootcamp is 3 months long.. and then he comes home for 10 day leave...
after his leave where does he go?? i wasnt sure if it was for camp giegre (were on the east coast) or to school.. i know hes going in to me a light mechanic like work on hum-v's and cars no tanks or anything like that.. my main question was a time line of things that were going to happen from bootcamp until we get our first station and how long his school will be and most likely where it could be.. thanks!
