Resolved Question: dealing with an aggressive horse ?
When i bought my QH gelding, he was not aggressive at all, you could pet him anywhere, play with him all day, and ride him with no problem except his usual spunky-ness when you rode him. A few weeks ago we bought a new horse that seemed to be a very gentle horse and was friendly to other horses, we were even told he was turned out with other horses and was the lowest on in the herd. We got him home and gave him some alone time, but he was able to see the other horses and smell noses with them, after a few days we turned him out with them and they were fine. During feeding time we decided to see how he would do and he was perfect and walked away with no problem, but then when my QH (who WAS the dominant one in the pasture) went to lick the pans like he always does when the others leave, the new Paint horse ran up to him and started kicking him and would not stop. Now we have to separate both of them to feed them. Anyways to the point, ever since we bought the new Paint horse, my QH has turned on me, like when i go out in the pasture to pet them, he gives me hateful looks and puts his ears back at me. When i have him in the barn petting him or brushing him, he trys to bite me and has accomplished that a few times. Today i gave him a treat cause he was really good when i was cleaning his wounds from being kicked and right after he ate the treat he bit me really hard on the side of my rib cage. It wasnt like a "i want another treat bite" he had his ears pinned back and an evil look on his face. I popped him on his shoulder and yelled at him for doing it cause i had enough, usually i just yell at him and he'll give me an innocent look, cause i dont like hitting him. My mom can mess with him all she wants and he will not act that way to her but when it comes to me petting him, he acts like he hates me. Could it be that i am petting the new horse and my horse is getting jealous? Cause my mom doesnt really spend that much time with my horse, but she spends time with the new one alot. Does he think that i am on the Paint horse's side and not his side? I really need some good advice on this and how to get him to stop, cause he's starting to get really bad and threatening to kick at me when i touch his stomach (which had never happened until we got the new horse) I dont want to hear any answers like "give him treats" or "you should spend more time with him" or anything like that either cause i do, he gets treats all the time and i spend every day with him, sometimes i just go out in the pasture just to pet him and not ride him and he's still hateful acting yeah the horse kicked him on his right hind side and also on the right lower end of his rib, but there was a little bit of swelling on his rib but then went away and he is not touchy there any more, also the kick marks are almost healed except for one that was the deepest kick, its still in the healing process we only have 4 geldings in a large pasture with plenty of room to move around and get stay away from each other, they are feed about 20 feet apart there was never a problem until we got the new horse i dont pet him around his wounded areas, but i do brush him with a soft brush very gently and he does nothing, he will let you mess with the cuts and soak them with salt water and everything, its just if you pet his neck, chest, belly or shoulder, then he goes crazy he has no wounds there either and i do not see any swollen spots where he might have been kicked or bit i would lounge him but i can only lounge him going counter clock wise cause he has an old fracture to his right leg and i dont want to make him put too much pressure on that leg, so i usually keep him turning to the left, unless i have to turn him to his right my mom is a retired vet and told me that it looks like, if i make him turn too hard or to fast to the right then it could fracture again or break (more...)

Resolved Question: How can I get over this nervous-ness?
Hey there, so I have my riding lesson Saturday, I have not managed to find another barn, so I'm stuck with what I'm at, but anyways, My cousin is coming to watch me, you guys have heard how I'mc ompared to her, ect. But the last time she came to watch me, I was so nervous, I felt like I was performing. D: My stomach was in knots, I believe I was shaking, I couldn't concentrate on the horse, how do I over come this? Any tips? Our ride really suffered because of it. It's fine, I'm working for my trainer now, so I'm getting more time with the horses. (more...)

Resolved Question: IL cow breeders, dairy farmers and ppl who know of such Help! Pls read!?
Hi, I work at a NARHA barn in burr ridge,IL. We are currently working on getting another cow since ours has grown too big, however, the program coordinator would like to find a closer barn than the one this cow has come from. Idealy, it would be a barn that could maybe set up a "swap out " program( once one cow becomes a year or so old we bring you that cow and you give us another to raise for a year and so on..) for future cases like this one and so the cows will all have places to go after a year at our barn. no certain breed or type ( boy or girl) ness. just a baby ( yes, we could bottle feed) the only thing my boss said is that she wants them de- horned. Does anyone know, or is, a person interested? I will answer ALL Questions!!! (PS, OUR current cow has a home to go too when his time comes to leave) (more...)

Resolved Question: help with dream analysis!?
I have to write a paper on some of my dreams...What I think they mean, and all that good stuff...I'll briefly describe a few on here and you tell me what you think I'm like because of them. Btw, they're a little on the crazy side! :) #1: I was in my barn and there was this huige apocolyptic-ness deal going on outside..fire tornadoes and everything. eventually all that came to an end and this magnificent "horse angel" came down and we chatted it up...haha actually i can't remember what we did. #2: i was in a field much bigger than the one at my house. the sky was beautiful. we were harvesting corn (i don';t have corn at my house in the real world) which flew up in the sky (a TON of corn!) and made its way towards monstrous sized harvesting barrels. #3: intense alien space ship war above my house. pretty self-explanatory. #4; movie-like battle scene between evil women and two "good" ppl on a huuuge bride similiar to the golden gate. they evenually knocked her down into the.... water. she somehow manahed to knock dangerous chemicals into the water on the way, which triggered the making of giant fire balls which sat idle in the water..until a truck dorve over then they all shot up and exploded..yiikess. ps0 im a 15 y/o high school girl incase that gives you anymore insight. thanks for your help!! <33 (more...)

Resolved Question: Horse problems!?
Ok, I have been having several minor problems with my horse... but before I tell them to you, let me say I have been riding since I was eight and, so i'm not inexperienced. :) here are my problems: 1) Five feet before a jump, my horse (Buddie) will start galloping. He goes over the jump fine, but it still is kind of scary. 2) Buddie has to much energy! If I let my guard down for a second, he'll start cantering or something. He is eating rolled oats, and I know they are giving him more energy than he would normally have, but if I take him off them (because winter is coming) he'll loose to much weight from the cold. 3) How can I teach him to lunge? 4) He is a klutz. If I ride him more, will his klutzy-ness be gone? 5) He's very attached to my other horse, Shimmy, and will always run to her if I don't pay attention. I'm very glad they get along, but is there anyway to get him to ignore her while i'm riding? 6) He's barn sour! i know he sounds like a pig, but he is the best at jumping! (more...)
