Hippy Gourmet - in Vancouver, British Columbia at Restaurant West

On our 'Sustainable Vancouver Tour,' we first meet Katherine Carol who takes us on a tour of Granville Island! This in-door, organic farmer's market is incredible! Then we find Chef David Hawksworth of West Restaurant who takes us with him on his quest for the freshest, sustainable seafood and produce at Granville Market. Afterwards we tool over to West Restaurant and meet Bryan Hopkins, restaurant manager. Bryan shows us around the restaurant while telling us the story of how it all came to be. Into the kitchen with David and the Hippy Gourmet as they roll out the pasta for the Spot Prawn Ravioli! Then a few short minutes later this ravioli is ready and we're digging in to this delightful appetizer! In between the recipes we take a break and visit Lucille Pacey at the Arts Umbrella program on Granville Island. Arts Umbrella brings art, dance, theatre and architecture classes to kids as young as six years old, and provides these services to inner city children who might otherwise never know about the value of art in shaping ones character. Back to West Restaurant and David Hawksworth, where David has a wonderful Ling Cod with local Manila Clams on the go! This is a mouthwatering preparation that he makes look so simple! West Restaurant prides itself on bringing the freshest, organic, and sustainable ingredients to the tables of its customers, in a way that marries fine European traditions with Asian and even Californian cuisine.

The Disneyland Encyclopedia: The Unofficial, Unauthorized, and Unprecedented History of Every Land, Attraction, Restaurant, Shop, and Event in the Original Magic Kingdom
Spanning the entire history of the park, from its founding more than 50 years ago to the present, this fascinating book profiles 500 attractions, restaurants, stores, events, and significant people from the history of DisneylandŽ. Each of the main entries in the book examines in detail the history of a DisneylandŽ landmark, including how many of the most popular attractions went through several incarnations before becoming what they are today—Tomorrowland’s Hall of Chemistry and Hall of Aluminum were transformed into the groundbreaking Adventure Thru Inner Space in 1967, and then became the popular ride Star Tours 20 years later. Read about unbuilt concepts, including Rock Candy Mountain and Chinatown, and delight in fascinating trivia about the park, such as ride statistics and attendance records. With a daily list of events, openings, and closings in the park's history, a yearly summary of attractions that came and went, simple and clear maps that correspond to the book’s 500 entries, and sidebars with additional information on each ride, this is a comprehensive and entertaining book overflowing with detail on the most-renovated, most-loved, and most-visited theme park in the world.

Voting Question: Relationship Advice. What should I do?
I have been talking to this guy for about 5-6 months now and we definitely have a lot in common and enjoy talking to each other. Problem is, he's in the Military and is on the west coast while I am nearly 3,000 miles away on the east coast. We talk every night for about 2 hours and we never seem to get tired of each other. He is home right now for a few weeks and has taken me out to movies and really nice restaurants for dinner and has taken me to meet his parents. When we're out in public, we definitely act like we're a couple (holding hands, kissing in front of people, etc) but I guess it's just the fact that he is so far away that makes a relationship not very possible at the time. All I know is I care about him and like him very very much and if he were willing to be in a relationship, I would be willing to be in one too and try to make things work out together. I know he likes me and he knows I really like him too. Does absence and time really make a heart grow fonder? Is just staying really good friends until he gets out of the military and then maybe trying to start a relationship a good idea? What should I do?
Thanks so much for the advice!

Voting Question: What's wrong with me Psychologically?
I posted this on another YA form after being critized as a self-absorbed prick for posting the 1st paragraph with the title "what's wrong with women. Note: I am still a little drunk from last night. I know none of you are psychologist but just take a guess at what's wrong with a fellow human being. I am thinking that my authentic self and ideal self were both rejected so i have lost my true identity. Here's the post:
I am 20, tan, rich, and handsome. Only problem is I am kind of big (muscular but with a gut) at 6 2" 240 lbs. I am premed (Biochemistry) and own my own business (a restaurant), drive a 2008 Lexus w/ navigation and wear designer clothes, have the latest gear (i.e., Blackberry storm), live in a sick bachelor's pad with about $15,000 in furniture/plasmas/ etc. I get a haircut once a week with a chin strap and I workout 2-4 times a week. Not to sound conceited, but I thought this was the epitome of what women seek in a man, yet I have NEVER had a girlfriend. I am fairly good at speaking with women, getting their numbers, and pretending like I do not care whether they like me or not (which seems to attract them). However, try as I might I can never get past the "friends zone." Is it the weight, because it cannot be the looks as I have done some amateur modeling. Also, I am packing 8" (thick) if women look at that. Any suggestions?
If women really didn?t care about all the things listed above, why didn?t I have a GF when I was driving a GEO Storm? How about when I had just 3-4 outfits? What about the time when I spent the whole night crying because some girl that I asked out told me: ?my father wouldn?t approve of your kind.? The nice guy/ funny guy inside of me died that night. Do not tell me that I do not care, because I truly do but have been hurt too many times in the past (and I do not mind telling you guys as I will never see /know you). Perhaps I thought that success would bring me happiness/love, but as Kanye West said: ?the top feels so lonely.?

Resolved Question: Where is there a year round warm climate and cheap town to live in near the mountains and the beach?
I love NYC because you can do anything you want at any time of day no matter if it's 4am. You have delivery, amazing clubs and restaurants, fashion and gorgeous people. BUT it is freezing here in the winter and I'm a west coast beach type of person. Where can I move that is not expensive to live, that is near the beach, is gay friendly, has excellent nightlife, and has mountains for snowboarding a close drive away?
I need a year round warm climate in an excellent city where I can tan on the beach but get in a car and have snowboarding a short trip away and still have a gay friendly environment / community.
International is fine, but I prefer the States.

Voting Question: Has the powerful and awesome nation of Israel ever celebrated the deaths of innocents?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sbarro_restaurant_suicide_bombing
Palestinian exhibit
Palestinian students at the Al Najah exhibition
After the suicide bombing, Palestinian university students at the An-Najah University in the West Bank city of Nablus created an exhibition celebrating the one year anniversary of the Second Intifada.
The exhibit?s main attraction was a room-sized re-enactment of the bombing at Sbarro. The installation featured broken furniture splattered with fake blood and human body parts as well as an idealized portrait of the suicide bomber holding a Koran and an automatic rifle.
Also featured in the exhibition is a room with mannequins dressed as suicide bombers carrying automatic rifles in one hand and the Koran in the other, and aside another mannequin dressed up to resemble an Orthodox Jew with a taped voice quoting from the Muslim Hadith[ ]:: "O believer, there is a Jewish man behind me. Come and kill him." The entrance to the exhibition was illustrated with a mural depicting the bombing.
The exhibit was later shut-down by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.(thank goodness)

Resolved Question: Any mid-west equivalent to "cash and carry" in Oregon for food?
In Oregon, i loved shopping at Cash and Carry, which was geared towards restaurants. I could buy whole beef and pork tenderloins, 5lb boxes of cheese and butter, and just large quantities of really good food at rock bottom prices. Now that I've moved out to Wisconsin, I miss it. Is there anything similar to it in Wisconsin? I love BBQ in the summer, and don't want to pay grocery store prices for huge Pork Butts or prime ribs...
