Ghost Riders
Ghost Riders Suicide took mid-70's NYC underground attitudes to extreme, but logical, ends. Singer Alan Vega's often terrifyingly apocalyptic vision was perfectly complimented by keyboardist Martin Rev's pulsating, sizzling accompaniment on rhythm box and synthesizer. Their psychotic electronic blues was the sound of American culture sliding towards destruction. On stage, they were routinely heckled by audiences unappreciative of their minimalist explorations (they actually incited riots while on tour in Europe opening for Elvis Costello). Ghost Riders is a CD version of a former tape-only live performance from 1981 commemorating the band's 10th anniversary. The recording is surprisingly good and the performance is excellent.--Mike Corrigan

Open Question: Invitations?!?!? Lots of Wedding Questions... HELP ME.?
Ok. Once printed and mailed, the invitations are only going to be there a little over a month before the wedding. I feel like thats WAY behind schedule, but there is nothing I can do about it at this point. Is it WAY to late?!? Also, if someone could guide me to a site that explains the how-to of a ceremony. (with a unity candle lighting). And I won't let myself spend more than 200 on a dress. So if you could send me some good sites? or stores? I'd rather stores. Resolved Question: Why do people worship the rich?
It's not just Republicans, many Democrats do too. Everyone wants to be like Paris Hilton and live that lifestyle. Everyone wants a big house, fancy car and all that. Most people earn a good wage, but want to live in a big house that sucks up all their money. At their companies, they devise ways to take jobs away from Americans, knowing their own kids won't be able to find anywhere to work. That's why they have to live with them or get a check every month to pay rent and other bills. My brother worships rich people and makes excuses for them all the time, even though he still lives at home. A co-worker of mine has loads of credit card debt because her idol is Paris Hilton and MTV is a guide for her life. These financial guys give themselves millions in bonuses when their companies almost went down! The Yankees are paying their players $20 million plus a year in a down economy. There's a difference between smart, elitist greed, and dumb greed, and this is dumb greed. Hospitals bill outrageous amounts when their business model clearly does not reflect the economic reality of the towns they reside in. Any retail or fast food worker can take a class and get hired at a hospital. How much longer can doctors, pharmaceutical companies and health care administrators bankrupt the majority of poor people who don't have health insurance in order to run their mega-bloated healthcare industries? Doctors and drug reps live like gods and are treated like gods when people clearly cannot afford their services any more! All these MBA holders...accountants...financial types...don't know shit. Hard times are ahead. It's time for the government to straighten out the economy and get it to work, or we may have some Asian, European or Middle Eastern foreign magnates taking over our companies and doing it for us. Resolved Question: Where can I watch the 60s Batman?
I asked this question before but didn't get an answer except someone telling me to rent it. Since it has never been released on DVD that would be a problem. Does anyone know where I can find the Adam West and Burt Ward Batman series? I used to occasionally catch an episode on Nick at Nite but I don't think it airs on that channel anymore. At least it doesn't show up in my online cable TV guide. I have a TV card in my computer so I can tape it if I can find it. An even better solution would be if someone could tell me where to find episodes online. (more...)

Resolved Question: DEATH OF A CHILD (repost)?
I have learned (from experience) the death of a child is life changing. There is no "getting over it", nor am I sure there is "working through it". I have learned to just LIVE with the loss. Deal with not having my little gift and watching, guiding, and learning with this soul. It was 13 years ago. The worst took my child, and again, my 18 year old is moving in this same direction as her sister. I may lose her to a sickness I have no control over. I cant stop this, I am doing all I can to help her as are the doctors. But we're not sure if she will make it through. I am dealing with home health and soon hospice coming to help her and keep her comfortable. We have the insurance, but it only pays so much, I pay whats left. Let me tell you, I make $13.00 an hour, working through agency, 4 12 hr shifts a week, taking care of Kay, trying to buy meds and pay everyday bills. I am a single mom, with an 18 yr old dying daughter and no way to make ends meet. There was a man in our lives. I thought we were working as a family together to maintain our lifestyle, expenses, life. I was wrong. He felt I was out to use and hurt him. (more to this story) And the accusations were too much to deal with as I was just learning about Kays illness. Kay was close to this man.She loved and trusted him as she would a father, and when she needed him the most in her short life, he turned his back on her, stopped talking to her, and doesn't feel any need or obligation to be there for her. He now has asked for proof that she is so ill, then he'll give some thought to being there for her. He has lost a child himself to suicide. He has one biological daughter left who manipulates him into whatever she needs at that moment. She came into our lives right before all fell apart and has played a big part in our breakup. She befriended Kay, then walked away after the damage was done, hurting Kay. Christmas is here. Kay gets one present, and I am overdrawn in my checking because of meds and home health care. I don't have the money for next months rent. ( yes I have ask for help from many different agency.) I have done all I can do, and then some. I have to find the strength to help her get through this, let her go, and pull myself together. The love of my life has left us and I feel so very alone. I have had invitations for dates and even thought about trying a swing group. But, life is just too full of things I have no control over. Adding more to my plate is not a good idea right now. A child dying is more than my heart can handle. I know I will never get over it. I know I will never work through it. I'm not sure I will even survive it. (more...)
