New Young Pony Club: new rave or new disco? Answer: who cares when their music sounds this good? The London quintet might be a new phenomenon to some, but others will know them well, as they've been working hard behind the scenes for a good three years or so, building up a solid fan base to accommodate the release of this debut album. And what a debut it is. Fantastic Playroom ticks all the right "influence" boxes--Bowie, Blondie, New Order--to make it suitably zeitgeist-capturing, yet their tunes are infused with an extra savvy and edginess, putting them slightly ahead of the new whatever game. Singles like "Ice Cream" and "The Bomb" illustrate the band's way with a sexy rhythm; songs like the percussive "Hiding on the Staircase" keep the party going, while the band's 80s style synth-pop indulgences come unashamedly to the fore on "The Get Go" and "The Jerk." A large part of the band's appeal is vocalist Tahita Bulmer, whose slightly detached vocal delivery sits well on the band's songs. True, Fantastic Playroom can feel more like a collection of singles than a coherent album at times, but that's just what this band do best. We should love them for it. --Paul Sullivan

i am looking for a good horse to half lease! has to be in the area of fairfax. fairfax station would be the best. size- anywhere from 15hh- 16.3hh (im around 5ft 4in) breed/color- no matter temperment- not mean. not high strung, dependable, pretty calm. i am a pretty good rider. rode for 3 years, then was forced to stop, and now have been back to riding for about 6 months. ive never owned a horse, but spend a lot of time around them and take care of them on a regular basis. im going to use this horse for pony club, im about to join as soon as i find a good horse. i jump around 2 ft now, and am looking to progress. horse has to be good with trailers and other horses. i would love for it to be rope halter trained, but not nessacary. prefferably a gelding, but a mare is fine too, generally calm. i currently ride at barranda ridge and work at sunshire stables. i can only ride my horse around 2- 4 times a week as he is agisted too far away for me to just walk to him and ride. I'd kill to ride more but my pony club ( where he is agisted) has a rule that if your under 18 you have to have someone over the age of 18 to supervise you. I'm only 16 so my mum has to come out through the week and stay there while i ride ( she has SO much fun ...sarcastic) but i thank her for it because she isn't horsey at all :) anyways, So i'm left at home craving to get better and better but i'm cut short by this dilemma. If i could i would be out there everyday working my butt off with him to make us a great team. So what can i do at home to improve us, to improve my skills etc ive trained my dogs to death because of my boredom and willingness to train something like a horse :D help! p.s there's no way for me to get to the pony club besides my mum dropping me and even if i could get there i need an adult to stay :( i'm on the internet nearly every night just filling my head with horse info, i absorb it like a sponge and i always need more :D (more...)
