not really a question but a remark so i hope it passes the moderators. i ask myself when i get a leaflet through my door saying we want your old clothes for distribution in the third world is it a scam? well yes it is these people take the best of your clothes and sell them on the market and keep the cash. what they cant sell they give to the scrap man or genuine charities or just land fill. my suggestion is this if you have spare unwanted clothes take them to a charity of your choice my personal choice is cancer Research and children in need or help the aged. if for any reason you haven't the time then take your clothes to a pair of scissors and remove the pockets (no need for them in the third world) cut a nick in the back of the shirt scuff the toes of the shoes basically make them worthless on the market. a third world person would love them even if there not fit for a cat walk. have you any better ideas or suggestions as when ive had these leaflets through the door i find the charity or company number is not real when ive searched the internet. Erica walked slowly through the rows of different sized tents. Searching for the one that belonged to her grandmother. It was a cold day in the underground. So most of the people where in their tents where it was some what warm. She wandered around the rows of tents, searching for a familiar, small red and grey one. Finally she found her grandmas tent hidden behind two larger ones. "Grandma?" said Erica, in an unsure voice as she attempted to 'knock' on the tent. "Yes, Dear," sang a old voice from the tent "Come in Dear" Erica unzipped the tent door with no struggle, and climbed in. She was greeted by a warm hug from her loving Grandmother. " Would you like something to eat Erica?" said her grandmother with wide eyes. "No I'm fine thank you" said Erica knowing for a fact that the only thing that her grandma would have to eat would be dehydrated berries and dates. Her and her grandmother talked for a while about her mother and her sister, but Erica was here to talk about something different... The outside world. "Grandma..?" said Erica interrupting her grandmother while she rambled on about nothing. "Yes sweetie, what is it?" said her smiling grandmother. "I was wondering...if you could tell me about the outside world?" Her Grandmothers smiling face faded to a questioning glare. "Why would you want to hear about that?" said her grandmother sternly. "I'm almost fourteen grandma, don't you think its about time I know about the world before this?" asked Erica tilting her head slightly to one side. Her grandma looked away for a moment and then back at Erica. "Oh I suppose so." said her grandma with a sigh. She knew Erica was right, she did have the right to know about the 'outside' Her Grandma began telling the story... "Well Erica about 14 years ago, when you where just a baby, the earth was wonderful... the land was green, all country's where finally at peace with each other, and mostly everyone was happy. Now that I think of it we lived in a close to perfect world...then something terrible happened..." Erica's Grandmother paused for a second. Erica could have sworn she saw a tear I her grandmas eye. Her grandma breathed in deeply and continued "back to what I was telling you. something terrible happened, there where news reports all over television that different parts of the world where being invaded by unknown creatures. Everyday there was a new news update. The wave of chaos was getting closer and closer to where we lived. Soon half the worlds population was wiped out. Afraid for our lives, and for our children too, about five hundred or so of us fled to the underground, the only safe place we knew. We blocked the only entrance to the underground with rock and debris. and we have remained here ever since...no one really knows if there's survivors. Or if the creatures are even still there" "Well don't you think someone should go out and explore to see if the creatures are still on earth and search for survivors?" said Erica excitedly "We cant take any chances, and every one is terrified of what the outside world might look like." her grandmother said shaking her head and pursing her lips. Their was a long pause, Erica eyes wandered from her grandmother and scanned across the tents interior. "well, I could go explore the outside?" said Erica with a smile on her face. her grandma chuckled to herself "Erica, honey the 'outside' is no place for a little girl, who knows what out there! plus getting to the opening that leads to the outside is very difficult because of all the animals and monsters that live out side our camp. you could get hurt or killed." worried her grandmother "Ill be fine! I'm sure the creatures don't live on the surface anymore! Please grandma let me prove to you!" pleaded Erica to her grandmother. "I already told you no Erica. Its getting late now, get yourself ready for bed." Said her grandmother patting her softly on the shoulder. Erica lay in her sleeping bag until her grandmother was fast asleep. When her grandmother started snoring loudly, Erica was positive her grandma was not waking up any time soon. Erica gathered few supplies for her adventure, a water jug, a thin blanket, a flashlight, and a kitchen knife for protection. She also took some of her grandmas dried dates and berries. Just incase she got hungry on the journey. Erica looked down at her sleeping grandmother and imagined her panicking in the morning, wondering where she was. Erica found a small tear of paper on the ground and used it to write a note telling her grandma that she had gone to explore the outside, and that she shouldn't worry about her because she was going to be perfectly fine. Three men were standing in line to get into heaven one day. Apparently it had been a pretty busy day, though, so Peter had to tell the first one, "Heaven's getting pretty close to full today, and I've been asked to admit only people who have had particularly horrible deaths. So what's your story?" So the first man replies: "Well, for a while I've suspected my wife has been cheating on me, so today I came home early to try to catch her red-handed. As I came into my 25th floor apartment, I could tell something was wrong, but all my searching around didn't reveal where this other guy could have been hiding. Finally, I went out to the balcony, and sure enough, there was this man hanging off the railing, 25 floors above ground! By now I was really mad, so I started beating on him and kicking him, but wouldn't you know it, he wouldn't fall off. So finally I went back into my apartment and got a hammer and starting hammering on his fingers. Of course, he couldn't stand that for long, so he let go and fell -- but even after 25 stories, he fell into the bushes, stunned but okay. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I ran into the kitchen, grabbed the refridgerator and threw it over the edge where it landed on him, killing him instantly. But all the stress and anger got to me, and I had a heart attack and died there on the balcony." "That sounds like a pretty bad day to me," said Peter, and let the man in. The second man comes up and Peter explains to him about heaven being full, and again asks for his story. "It's been a very strange day. You see, I live on the 26th floor of my apartment building, and every morning I do my exercises out on my balcony. Well, this morning I must have slipped or something, because I fell over the edge. But I got lucky, and caught the railing of the balcony on the floor below me. I knew I couldn't hang on for very long, when suddenly this man burst out onto the balcony. I thought for sure I was saved, when he started beating on me and kicking me. I held on the best I could until he ran into the apartment and grabbed a hammer and started pounding on my hands. Finally I just let go, but again I got lucky and fell into the bushes below, stunned but all right. Just when I was thinking I was going to be okay, this refrigerator comes falling out of the sky and crushes me instantly, and now I'm here." Once again, Peter had to concede that that sounded like a pretty horrible death. The third man came to the front of the line, and again Peter explained that heaven was full and asked for his story.
