Safe Trip Home
(Amazon.co.uk Review) Safe Trip Home, the third album from singer-songwriter Dido, sees the chanteuse cook up a slightly different ambience than on previous albums No Angel (1999) and Life for Rent (2003). Though her signature elements remain in place--the limited, slightly cracked falsetto; the dreamy, comforting trip-hop vibe--there seems to be an extra density to Safe Trip Home, doubtless provoked by the loss of her father in 2006. The added weight is predominantly in the lyrics, which tend to focus on loss and heartache, but there's extra detail and depth in the musicianship too, since Dido has been busy honing her skills as a multi-instrumentalist. Despite the denser themes, the music still drifts by in classic Dido style, moving smoothly through the insouciant “Don't Believe in Love", the aptly titled “Quiet Times", and “Never Want to Say It's Love", before arriving at the somber-yet-elegant six-minute standout “Grafton Street", co-written with Brian Eno and featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums. The rest of the album unfurls in similarly sophicticated fashion, featuring the folkish “Look No Further", the upbeat “Us 2 Little Gods", and a nine-minute poetic closer called “Northern Skies". Open Question: What do you do when hurt in a long term relationship?
Me and my boyfriend have been together for 5 years we have a 3 year old daughter he has cheated on me and lied about other women even thought im pretty sure that he didnt sleep with thoes ones. Well i've come to the point where i love him but i am not in love with him anymore i don't feel crazy about what he may be doing while not home, i feel as if i need to get out and experience life without him, but everything i have is invested in this relationship, i have nowhere to go and all my money goes to bills and food also other necessities, how do i re-leave myself from all the depression, how can i make myself happy again while still in this broken relationship? Everytime I did pack me and my daughters bags he ripped them apart and sorta made me stay i guess he has this control over me and i am sorta scared of what will happen if one day i do decide to pack and leave while he is not home....its a screwed up relationship because we make eachother belive this is where we wanna be well maybe he does but i cant belive him and i will never trust him again so what should i do just even a little advice will help thank you.

Open Question: Extreme pain under ribs in right hand side of body....Please help?
I have developed a pain all of a sudden under my ribs on the right hand side of my body and its unbearable I am actually crying so bad i have been on the phone to NHS Direct who just said go to A&E but i had thisa same pain a couple of days ago and it lasted 6 hours and they didnt do anything but when i told them i was 7 wk pregnant they done a pregnancy test and confirmed my pregnancy! then sent me home, i dont know what to do as i am in so much pain so please someone help me!

Open Question: Arghh, help, he's getting on my nerves! :(?
Okay, kind of long, bear with me, ha ha.
So...we live with our grandparents. Rather, my grandma and the guy she married like 30 years ago but never actually "adopted" any of Grandma's kids. Now, he's always been a pretty ornery guy. We used to get along pretty well, but it's a fact that since he met my grandma, he's been verbally abusive, controlling, selfish, and everything. I promise, I'm not just saying it. At the dinner table, he'll lay into her and call her all sorts of names, and no one's allowed to say anything because basically, he's the only one allowed to. Ever.
But I guess it's become more prominent lately. All he ever really does is complain about things and boss us all around. He sits in his chair all day and says things like, "the counter's always messy! You guys need to learn to clean it up! I don't want to see anything on it! Don't think just because you're "Grandma's special grandkids" you can just waltz around getting away with everything!"
Okay, now let me clear something up. We're not like that. We all help around the house and do whatever we need to, because we've all been together for almost two years now. We're not freeloaders by ANY means. I even have a job (I'm 16) and spend most of my time there. I'm not demanding or rude to them or anything. So get this.
Tonight at dinner, I said, "hey Grandma, do you mind taking me down to the gym tomorrow? I have an appointment with a trainer."
And she says, "Sure, of course!"
So, we-know-who narrows his eyes and goes, "Why don't you learn to walk places?"
The gym is pretty near home, but it's also right on an extremely busy and dangerous intersection. The few times I've walked home, I've nearly been mauled by people who don't pay attention to stoplights. (This is WHEN I have the Walk sign, people!)
So I told him this, and he was all, well, learn to take the bus.
Even my grandma said, there's no bus stops near home...it'd be pointless.
And he said, "Oh! People don't HAVE to do anything like that when they're spoiled brats who are used to having people take them everywhere they decide they need to go."
So I replied, politely, "Why does anyone do anything they don't have to?"
And he said, "What about the inconvenience to the other person?"
To this, Grandma said, "I don't MIND, I like it, and it's on the way home from her school anyway." (Can't drive yet. *sigh*)
And he says, "From my generation to yours, you're all a bunch of jerks who think you're entitled to everything. And you're not. You're not that special, you should learn to do things on your own. What happens in college? What are you going to do? You don't know how to do anything! Oh! And you want to travel? Here's news for you, in other countries, you STILL have to find ways to get around. So either learn how to stop making other people do things for you or just forget about traveling anywhere."
Now...considering the conversation...that hurt? Wouldn't it hurt you? It was unneccessary! And he doesn't care about inconvenience, because he doesn't even ask. He'll DEMAND to be taken somewhere, and if she says no, he makes a huge fuss and says it's her job as his wife to do things for him.
See the difference? Now, Grandma and Mom said not to listen to him because he's always been this way, and he always gets jealous when the focus isn't all on him. But that really hurt my feelings...especially because I'm not rude, I'm not a brat, I always ask politely AND in advance, and it isn't like I sit around doing nothing. I HAVE a job, and study a lot, focus on grades, and yeah, I like to see my friends, but who doesn't?
So...after this rant (sorry, I had to, it was 30 minutes ago)...I just want to know, what can I do? Obviously, I can't TALK to him about it, because I tried that tonight and he gets all smug and just tells me to stop talking. ('cause when he ORDERS something, it MUST be done.) Plus, he never listens anyway. (sigh) I used to get on really well with him, but now I hate to say...I can hardly stand him. I didn't do anything to invite that kind of thing from him, but he spent the whole dinner taking shots at me.
What can I do when I live with someone like this? He does stuff like this a lot, and it drives me CRAZY because I can't say anything! It really hurts what he says. Is there anything I can do at all? Either about him, or just to keep me from constantly feeling sad?

Open Question: My husband is cheating & refuses to tell me why he won't end it w/her & give our marriage another try! Should ?
I expect him to tell me the truth since, he lied in the first place? Yes, I'm hurt and angry because I don't know how to deal with this. He is with this other woman and move out of our home. I there a such thing as closure? Should I expect him to tell me something to help me understand?
I can't afford counseling so this is the next best way for me to vent. Please understand.

Open Question: getting rid of daily windburn ?
i work outside all day and in the winter i often come home with windburn, as in all of my face is bright red but it stays like that for 3 or 4 hours. It doesnt irritate me i just dont like looking like a tomato when i go out after work. anything i can do? ( cold water doesnt work) Thanks

Open Question: Question for women and feminist?
There are allot of questions on GWS that discriminate against women, Now why would they do that, don't they think it makes the women stronger and sometimes they become feminist.
Do anti-feminist women become feminist by seeing these questions posted here?And do men think that it's wrong for them to be taken wrongly by others non intelligent and out of there mind questions?
What's the point of posting a question online about how women should be a stay at home mom or do dishes when they turn out to become a feminist and a stronger woman.
Women get more encouragement online when they see the argument going on between a man and woman and seeing how the world really works.
So does the questions that discriminate women makes the women stronger or a feminist?
