Relief map of the battle field of Gettysburg. Looking south. Showing the town, fields, farm buildings, forests, streams, roads and lanes as they were at the time of the battle. (Civil War Map Reprint: 36 High quality reproduction of a historic map from the Civil War Map Collection from the Library of Congress. (most 1860s-1890s). Collection contains nearly 1,700 maps from the digital collections. Some are just from the era of the Civil War, while most are battlefield maps made during or soon after the end of the war. We currently list only those maps that are in the public domain. These maps vary significantly in image density, size, wear, visual appeal, and quality. We are in the process of digitally "cleaning up" these maps to try to restore them to the extent possible. This is a very time consuming process and some types of damage cannot be repaired. We are also producing these maps as orders or inquiries are made about them individually (also keep in mind that some people want to receive prints of the maps as is--i.e. without removal of wear, aging, library stamps, and damage). These are High Quality Prints offered by AntiqueReprints.

M-D Building Products 92379 24-Inch SmartTool with Module And Case
M-D Building Products 92379 24-Inch SmartTool with Module And Case

Welcome to the versatile world of SmartTool. Most levels only give you information at level (0 degrees) and plumb (90 degrees) using bubbles you have to work to center visually between two lines.  You can do that with SmartTool, too, but the SmartTool also lets you measure digitally, electronically, and with an actual number, at every angle, all 360 degrees of a complete circle.  So installing a deck, stair rail, extending a roof or determining how much an old floor has sagged is simpler, less time consuming, and more accurate.

SmartTool is simple to use. Just press the on/off button and SmartTool will show you the angle of any surface with decimal-point accuracy.  The display even flips over with the level so SmartTool always reads right side up And it shuts off automatically after 6 minutes when it's not being used, all this from a standard, 9-volt battery. And, SmartTool can take abuse other levels can't, because its components are made of high strength materials and you can reset it to factory accuracy with the touch of a button.

Many versatile options
If you can imagine times you'd like to have both a small digital torpedo level and a longer level, the SmartTool Module fills the need.  The SmartTool Module can be used as a stand alone level or it can be placed in the optional American I-beam level in lengths of 24 inches, 48 inches or 96 inches.  M-D's top-quality red aluminum I-beam levels have been assured of excellence among construction professionals for more than three-quarters of a century. Easily attached or removed using only a screwdriver or coin, the versatility of this product can be appreciated in almost any application.  The simple, SmartTool patented field calibration procedure can be performed using one button, any reasonably level surface, and just a couple of minutes. When used with the optional magnetic bracket, the SmartTool Module will stay on saw blades, metal pipes, buildings, machinery or anything made of iron or steel allowing hands free measurement.

Simple to use
SmartTool permits you to find level and plumb in two ways.  For quick references, use the sensitive bubble vials. For highly precise work, use the digital display on the Sensor Module.  It provides accuracy to 1/10 of a degree. But the real advantage of the SmartTool is that it also reads all the other angles bubble vials don't.  So when you are not dealing with level or plumb, SmartTool quickly tells what the angle is and what the angle needs to be.  And only SmartTool allows you to measure angles three different ways:  degrees, percent slope, and pitch (rise over run).

Read in Degrees
Set saw blade angles to a fraction of degree accuracy with SmartTool.  Assure there is no gap when you join 2 cuts together with .1 degree accuracy. You can easily duplicate a stair angle for setting handrails and never again will you be measuring top and bottom to make sure stair treads and rails are parallel.

Percent Slope and Pitch
In the percent slope mode the SmartTool allows you to read angles to meet requirements for sewer connections, ADA ramps, and grading.  And showing compliance is merely a matter of pointing to the display. SmartTool also gives you roof pitch readings -- in inches of rise per foot of run -- right on the display.  No two-handed measurements, no conversion calculations, and no mistakes.

Listen and Level Audio Feature
Have tasks where you really can't see the SmartTool but need instant feedback?  Then turn on the audio beeper.  When turned on with a single button, SmartTool lets you hear when your task is at level or plumb.  This can be great when shimming projects, leveling buildings, pool tables or other projects where you need immediate feedback but are not in a position to see the display.  This can leave your hands free to adjust, nail, or screw the project in place when you hear the beep telling you it is where you want it.

Hold
The hold button makes it easy to measure in areas where the digital display is not visible.  Take the measurement, push the hold button, and then bring the SmartTool in front of you to see your reading.

Tools & Hardware:  24-inch electronic level; measures in degrees, percent slope, and pitch, Measures all angles in 360-degree range; automatic shutoff after 5 minutes, Aluminum frame for lightweight strength, Includes 1 level and case; 9-volt battery not included, 24-inches long; 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects

Open Question: Do my dreams mean anything?
Lately I have been having nightly dreams about escape and explosions. They generally take place in the town where I grew up. It seems like late afternoon because of the golden light. In one dream I was running away from a farm and turned to see all the buildings explode simultaneously, but they didn't catch on fire. I always wake up unsettled afterward. I've been having small anxiety attacks lately, but I don't know what I'm anxious about. I wonder if the dreams could be relating to that. (more...)

Voting Question: What do you think of my story, so far?
I started writing this story when I was 10. I'm eleven now and still writing it when I feel like it. I haven't thought of a title or anything yet. I really want to publish a book one day, hopefully I can. Some parts might not make much sense because I have stopped writing some parts and started others, in other words; it's not written all fluently, it might be different parts to the story. Anyway, it's not finished but this what I've got so far. I know that it is long but please take the time to read it. Thank you! I lost another version of it that was alot better but here is the older one so far. Chapter 1. Hello, I?m writing a diary this year, personal of course, but I?m sure that you can read it too, if you promise not to tell anyone. First; I?ll tell you a bit about my self. My full name is Jennifer Holly Kennedy, but my friends just call me Jen or Jenny. My best friend?s name is Jade. She has black, long hair and big blue eyes with long eyelashes. She is smart and funny but sometimes she can be very stubborn and bossy. I live on a farm in Australia. But a lot of my relatives from my Father?s side of the family live in South Africa. But none of them are actually South African. We moved there when I was three but then my parents decided that it would be better to live in Australia were my Mother?s side of the family was, so we moved back to Australia when I was seven. Australia is much better than over there. I?m eleven years old and my birthday is on the 14 of April. My Dad doesn?t really have a job, well not like Jade?s Dad?s. Most Dad?s go off to work every day in the city, in buildings, in offices, in factories. My Dad just gets up and milks cows, tends to chickens, sheep, goats and pigs. It doesn?t really sound like hard work, but it is VERY hard. We sell the eggs and milk and some of the animals to produce companies. Mum also works. At home though. When we lived in South Africa, she worked for a animal shelter. But when we moved here to Australia, she had to give that up. One day Mum got a phone call from the owners saying that they wanted to sell the shelter to her! Mum told them that we had moved and it wasn?t possible. She was so disappointed because she could?ve made an absolute fortune out of it! But surprisingly they said that she could still buy it and then she could check up on it over the internet! She wasn?t sure at first but Dad convinced her. Anyway, I got this diary from my Nanna, just before she died. It?s blue and printed with butterflies of all different colours. I have a little sister called Taylor. She?s only six and the most annoying person on the planet! But she does make you laugh. She has brown hair and green eyes. She?s short and very thin. I have a big brother named Jon. He?s twenty-four. He moved to Nigeria (near the top of Africa) with his girlfriend two years ago. Haven?t see him in a year. Keira, Jon?s girlfriend, is nice. She?s really pretty. Oh, and they have a baby girl called Kayla, she?s gorgeous! I think that she will turn out to be the prettiest girl on earth! Jon has brown eyes and Keira has blue eyes so Kayla might have blue, brown or even green eyes. Keira?s very tanned and blond haired so I?m guessing that Kayla will be too. Keira?s not from Africa, she?s from Germany. She came over for a holiday, but when she met Jon she didn?t want to leave. And she didn?t! She stayed with him. She?s still very young, only twenty-one! They met when she was just nineteen. Anyway, how about I describe myself? Well? I have blond hair, green eyes and I?m tall. I can?t really say much about my personality. You?d have to ask my friends about that. I also have a dog called Tilly, a little Border Collie. Amazingly, when my Nanna came to visit, she gave me the diary and bought Tilly over! She was just eight weeks! ?You are old enough now to have your own responsibilities,? I can just remember her saying. ?Take care of her. And here?s a diary I found at the markets. It suites you a lot Jenny.? She was lying down on the bed by my window. Just where I?m writing this diary. That?s where she died. Jade sometimes asks if I ever get scared about her ghost in my room at night. ?No.? I always say, ?Nanna wouldn?t scare me. And anyway, I?m not scared of Nanna if she ever did come and see me one day.? Jade has always thought hat I?m a wimp but when you know you are, you can fib a bit. I think that I would actually jump out of my skin and scream until my lungs exploded if I saw a ghost of my Nana floating around my bedroom. My dad also has a dog, Kain. He?s a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Huge, and quiet scary sometimes. He sometimes torments Tilly with his big paws. I don?t personally like him but Dad loves him a lot. Kain?s very loyal, to Dad anyway. Now that I?ve told you a bit about myself, heres my story. Chapter 2. Today I woke to hear Tilly whining at the back door. She always whines. But I guess that she is still a pupp oh wow! i didn't know it only pasted that much there is way more: thank you so far though. Chapter 2. Today I woke to hear Tilly whining at the back door. She always whines. But I guess that she is still a puppy. No school today, hooray! I covered my head with my pillow to block out Tilly?s whining. I knew it was no use. I might as well just get up now, I thought to myself. I got out of bed and checked my calendar for anything important that was happening today. Yay! Jade?s sleeping over tonight! I remembered. Sleepovers with Jade are always the best. I love staying up late and eating lollies all night! I chucked on my denim shorts and my cargo, butterfly shirt that Jon had given me before he left for South Africa; it was very tight now since it was given to me two years ago. I went into the kitchen, trying to squeeze my head through the top of the shirt. I pulled and pulled at the sleaves. Rrrrrrrr. Damn. The both of the sleaves ripped just as I got it over my head I dont have enough room to paste it all. lol (more...)

Voting Question: Help with Harvest Moon DS?
Okay I have a few simple questions for this game... On some FAQs it says you have to be a level 6 farmer to find any cursed items. I am a level 5 and found the cursed fishing rod today and since I'm trying to marry Muffy in the game, I need like 10 more sprites. So I got the rod blessed by the church (like 4 times now) and I still haven't gotten the little sprite dude (i think it's Sammy?) for it. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a glitch? Also, is there a way to rearrange the buildings on your farm or do you have to bulldoze the building and rebuild it entirely? (more...)

Resolved Question: Why didn't Jesus do this?????
Many Christians on here have said that Jesus and God are the same spirit, the same thing. If this is the case, then Jesus was all knowing, and all powerful. From what I understand, the Bible supports this because of the miracles he preforms, along with the knowledge of the people around him and his own death. I would then have to imagine a God like this, that is walking Earth to save souls and better people's lives, wouldn't do it a the extremely small way that he did. Why didn't Jesus not only speak of God, and how to live your life through God, teach us some things about Math, Science, Culture. Why didn't he teach knowledge to the farmers, teach them new ideas of farming, new tools. Why not teach them the REAL world on which they lived? He was a carpenter right? Why not teach people to build easy buildings with structures that could only be destroyed by God with the materials at hand? Why not teach them things in medicine or health like bacteria. Certainly he could have told them not to go to the bathroom in the rivers they drank from.Overall, why not give them practical things besides a religious belief to help better their lives. I just think that if peoples' lives were better in those aspects, they would be happier, less likely to sin, and therefore more people would go to God for eternity. Why not do that for every single person? He had the power, the knowledge. Help the world and give everyone an equal chance, or spit in people's eyes one face at a time? I just don't understand. Resolved Question: I'll answer all of your questions and give you 10 points if you summarize the stuff below into 3 sentences?
Topic: ?How does flooding affect the nitrogen levels in the surrounding soil, in Florida?? Seasonal flooding, which can occur due to natural disasters such as tropical storms, can cause overflow of main river resources and its tributaries, and thereby flood a variety of crops, including but not limited to corn, wheat, rye, beans, etc. Since other states and countries are dependent on these crops, when they become unavailable, these consumers look to other sources of regional harvests to meet their customers that they will sell their food products at a discount during the following harvest season, thereby cutting into their profits. Therefore, natural disasters can have devastating effects on local and regional economic that are dependent on crops for subsistence farming. The farmer must hope that they can recover in the following harvest season and re-coup their cash crops for sale and re-gain the confidence of their buyers/ consumers. Thus, there is a delicate reliance on farmers and existing natural weather systems. Additionally, in the aftermath of floods, the marginal labor product thereby falls. This is because of the fact that the quality of the land, including the plants and animals that have diminished because of the flood waters therein, has deteriorated. As a result of the flood, the wages paid towards the farmers? labor will increase because the government will henceforth have to compensate for the farmers? lack of productivity. Furthermore, this lack of productivity stems from the tremendous increase in nitrogen levels in soil surrounding flood areas, which causes the growth of blue-green agene (thereby consuming oxygen levels in the soil and killing of the plants that thrive from the soil) and the exponential growth of bacteria (thereby spreading diseases such as malaria and ameba infection). Therefore, the citizens themselves will suffer because they will have to pay the government in the form of taxes in order to compensate for this loss of productivity coined by the proliferation of intense nitrogen levels stemming from flood waters. Moreover, flooding causes food to diminish from excessive hydration, thereby hurting the economy and upending the amount of crops available for sale. In addition, flooding causes monumental damage upon the housing market because it inundates and upends buildings from their concrete foundations, thereby causing people to go homeless and to lose their workplaces. The economy therefore plummets because people will, therefore, be unable to obtain income, will utilize and invalidate their home insurance to pay for the damage and will have to pay taxes to tax collectors in order to aid in the reconstruction of all of the aforementioned damage (including the bolstering of emergency vehicles). The foresaid could possibly lead to a million-dollar loss in state capital. The plague of disease coined by the flooding can create chaos in hospitals, for there would be a minute doctor-to-patient ratio. Additionally, transport networks could be disjointed by the floodwaters obliteration of highways, bridges, ports, airports and railroads, thereby disturbing trade networks. Additionally, the value of the dollar could decrease because of the people that would take their stocks and money out of banks in order to obtain money to compensate for their loss of income, decline in home insurance and increase in tax spending. f Consumers will also be hit by this economic downfall because of the fact that taxes will also increase on products in order to uphold the government?s need to ensure itself for the sake of future flooding. In the case of future destruction, the government will always need money to boost its potential to work on reconstruction projects in the future. The government will need to increase the taxes by a small fraction of the increase in taxes need to uphold the various types of reconstruction needed to mend the flooding. On the other hand, one way in which flooding will actually boost the economy is that all medical, construction, repair and cooperate business unions will benefit from the flooding. Ambulances and hospitals will, in essence, gain profit from the flooding because of the demand for medical emergence assistance. Cooperate businesses and other cooperation unions will need to rely on each other for economic metal transactions designed to engage the reconstruction and relative economic gain simultaneously. Another serious concern is when disasters caused from flooding and resultant nitrogen pollution are combined with the ?naturally? decreasing amounts of consumable agricultural crops produced. This is because large amounts of corn and sugar cane are being converted for use in alcohol biofuels. Already the world is suffering from the shortages of corn, and this will only become worsen as the results of nitrogen pollution compound the problem. The shortage of agricultural pro 5 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. (more...)

Resolved Question: Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass?
1. As a child, why does Douglass rarely see his mother? (1 point) She has little to do with him because he was fathered by a white man. She lives in a great house and Douglass is not allowed inside. She doesn't want to become attached to him in case he is sold. She was hired out to a distant farm shortly after his birth. 2. What set the Lloyd plantation apart from the surrounding farms? When Mr. Auld scolds his wife for teaching Douglass to spell, Douglass realizes that (1 point) learning would only make him discontented and unhappy. education is the key to freedom from slavery. Mrs. Auld has much to learn about slave management. Mr. Auld does not understand the value of education. 5.
