Hey Ranger!: True Tales of Humor & Misadventure from America's National Parks
Hey Ranger!: True Tales of Humor & Misadventure from America's National Parks Focusing on the light rather than the serious side of outdoor mishaps and ranger life, this is a book which everyone from seasoned outdoorsmen to armchair travelers will find both entertaining and enlightening. In his thirty years with the National Park Service, Jim Burnett saw it all: boat ramp mishaps that launched cars instead of boats; skunks in the outhouse and other wildlife encounters; visitors looking for the bridge over the Grand Canyon; dumb crooks; and much more.

For those who envy the lives of rangers who live and work in national parks, the book also provides some revealing—and humorous—insights into what that job can really entail, including accounts of an amazing variety of situations that prompt people to knock on a ranger’s door in the middle of the night.

The book concludes with some practical "ranger wisdom," illustrated with real-life examples, to help keep readers from becoming a "victim of their vacation" on their next outdoor excursion.

Moon Glacier National Park (Moon Handbooks) Written by a local hiking guide whose love affair with the park spans decades, Moon Glacier National Park uncovers the best ways to experience the rugged Crown of the Continent. You’ll find where to smother your taste buds with huckleberry pie, where to spot a glacier, where to spy grizzly bears, where to swim with icebergs, and where to run your fingers over some of North America’s oldest rock formations. Open Question: Un site de camping avec mobil-home en France / Bretagne ?
Hello. I am looking for a nice site with Canvas holidays or Keycamp etc. to stay in a mobile home. Have a young family - ages up to 11. Prefer to be next to nice clean beach probably in Brittany. Nice restaurant or pub on site would be good. Friendly staff in restaurant and site would be good. Reasonably large emplacements and caravans with end lounges would be great. Good facilities on site like waterpark but maybe not too many as dont want hordes of teenagers ! Also if the campsite runs a kids club that would be good. And also nice places to visit nearby or to cycle to. I know its quite a lot to ask but can anyone recommend a site ? We have stayed the last three years at St Cast, Benodet and De La Baie at Trinite sur Mer. They all had great things going for them but each had something negative too. (more...)

Resolved Question: Camping and power inverters?
Anyone use these a lot for camping. I bought a small inverter about 3 years ago for my Dodge Caravan (2005 model). I used it a few times, and eventually found a way to wire it up. About a year later, the truck had some crazy electrical problems and of course the lame dealership tried to blame it on my inverter - so i disco'd it. However, I've since changed the car battery, and hooked back up the inverter. I've been a bit afraid to use it though just on the outside chance it causes some kinda problems with the car? Anyway, I'd like to start using it again. Should you always have the engine running when you use the inverter or is there some other way? I'd like to use mine on little camping trip soon to power a laptop computer and maybe a heater fan. Thanks for any tips! (more...)
