Open Question: What college should I go to? I plan on majoring in Information Sciences...?
really can't decide which college to go to. I am really trying to find a good affordable college in the Midwest or up North. The college I probably KNOW I can get into is Tennessee Technological University and the in-state tuition is like $5,045. The thing is I don't want to go to college in my home state of Tennessee unless I have no choice. I need help!!!

Resolved Question: What are the pros and cons of the HP TouchSmart tx2z series laptop?
I am looking to purchase a new laptop. I want something that is top of the line, yet affordable. I want a laptop that will last a few years. I currently have a Dell Inspirion 600m series running on Windows XP. I am very unhappy with this computer. It is very slow, noisy, overheats often, and has a LOW battery life.
I will be using this laptop both at home and on the go as I travel between home, work, and graduate school. I will use it for writing papers, internet research, downloading music, updating my ipod, uploading pictures/video. I would also like to use my computer to manage my finances, schedules, and contacts.
Please tell me your thoughts on this model. Please recommend any models that you feel may better suit me if this is not the one. How does this laptop compare to the new macbook? Pros and cons of windows vista?

Resolved Question: How do I change my mental state?
Last night for the first time I cried my eyes out because I realized we might not have a home to live in these few months. We can't find anything affordable. Everything is too expensive.
As a graduate student my parents asked me to stay with them so that I can work on my schooling and not have to worry about finances for now. I was truly grateful for that. However, I'm not making enough right now to help her out and it is really affecting me, because we are being forced out of our apartment and can't afford anything else. I would give all my pay-check to my mom if anything else were to happen. I guess, I always thought at this point in my life I would be supporting my family.
I don?t know what to do. I?m contently depressed, anxious and can?t sleep at night.
I know I need to be strong for them, but emotional and physically I feel lost and weak.
I?ve tried to exercise, eat right, and even listen to happy music.
I don?t know what else to do to get my mental state right. Any advice would be appreciated.
I know I shouldn't complain because there are people who are in worse then I am. I hope you all understand.
Thank you.
Beach bum, thank you for the thought-out response. Unfortunately, we live in Los Angeles, and the rental prices are extremely high.
The only debt I have right now is school loans (and its not that high).
Thank you for the ideas Saved. I was thinking of moving to S.F. I loved the people there. =)
I know we will get through it.
I hate that money is making me feel this way, but its the hard truth.
My family is really working together to get this going. I just put pressure on myself for not being able to help them.
I know its temporary, and I can't wait to give them everything they really deserve.
Lynn-I'm going to answer those questions right now. Thank you!

Open Question: Stuck in My Current Situation? ?
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in this situation. I'm 25 years old and I graduated from college about 1.5 ago. I just started working not too long ago. I live with my parents. The situation is iffy. My mom understands I do not have many living options, so she doesn't want to make me leave. Yet, at the same time, the situation is tense. My mom tends to pry into my personal life and space. She's even read my mail in the past. Despite many conversations asking her to respect my privacy, she does not do so.
I only make about $25,000 a year. I'm fresh out of school and I'm a teacher. I do have plans to get a master's degree, so I can get a better paying position. I plan on becoming a special education teacher or something that will increase my pay scale.
Rent is very high in my area. The area I grew up in, is very upper middle class. The only "affordable" rent option would be to move to the closet city. But, it's not a nice city. It's the city where I teach and it's very run-down, very high crime and not very safe for a young 25 year old women alone.
I could probably move about an hour away. There is a more affordable, working class town that has decent rent (still high though). However, I would have to get a roommate. I could not afford it otherwise.
All my friends are either in renting situation or they are living with their boyfriends/husbands/fiances. I would prefer NOT to live with a stranger or someone who I have not known for at least a year. I had a bad experience with a roommate in college and I would prefer not to have a similar experience.
I do have a boyfriend. We've dated for 5 years. I've talked to him about moving in together. But, he says, "yeah, but these things do not happen overnight." He just doesn't seem ready.
So, I'm stuck. Living at home is tense. All my friends are living with their boyfriends. My boyfriend doesn't seem interested in getting a place. Again, I'm not keen on finding a random person. I would prefer not to have the experience I had in the past.
Getting a better job isn't possible. Since I have a teaching degree, there isn't much I can do outside of that. I will not finish my master's for at least 2 years. I've looked in tutoring, but that doesn't pay much.
I'm really stuck, but I truly do not know what to do. I have no options for roommates and rent is way too high to do on my own.
