High quality poster print by AntiqueReprints. From the collection of nearly 6,000 photochrom (photochrome) prints from the Detroit Publishing Company collections of the Library of Congress. When ordering reprints from this collection, it is important to understand what you will receive. While these images are in color and they are quite beautiful, they are not comparable in tone, image quality, and resolution to modern color photography. Photochroms prints were made by adding colors to a black and white image by using multiple colored lithographic stones. The color range is limited in each print to a handful of actual colors, but the color depth appears deeper in many prints than it actually is. The final prints were created using different color impressions from multiple lithographic stones. Subjects are almost exclusively cities, scenes, and landscapes of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Countries or regions include: Algeria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Syria, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, and more.

Beautiful Future
Beautiful Future--a hopelessly optimistic moniker for their ninth album, no matter which way you approach it, since Primal Scream are almost universally accepted to have strutted past their zenith around the same time they helpfully mislaid their vowels (on 2000's unrelentingly anarchic
Xtrmntr). To claim any future, especially after the all-too-brief successes of 2006's turgid
Riot City Blues, let alone a handsome one is foolhardy to say the least. But, you see, they're actually being cuttingly sarcastic, or so we ascertain from Bobby Gillespie's ham-fisted sloganeering on the title track's tirade against modern ills ("you live by the sword, you die by the sword, you're only free to buy things you can't afford", etc.). If anything in particular is exposed as a spent force here it is he and his pen, sense disregarded to the point of parody, words drifting like flotsam and the band's systematic attempts to reinvent themselves. The small miracle is that they just about manage. "Beautiful Future" leads into the album with a curious and eventually overwhelming infectiousness, gleaming like CSS delivering a Shirelles pastiche complete with cheesy bell-ringing and an effeminate vocal delivery that almost clouds over the lyrical content. "I Love to Hurt (You Love to Be Hurt)" actually features CSS's Lovefoxx as this album's Kate Moss and holds its own with some minimalist malevolence. As an album it jerks and it stumbles, lacking a definitive identity, but it at least ensures they'll live to see another day. A future of some sort is assured.

Screamadelica

A watershed '90s release,
Screamadelica was the most convincing marriage of overground rock and underground dance music yet. With one foot in
Beggars Banquet-era Stones (the gospel-rock "Movin' on Up") and the other in the trippy soundscapes of rave culture (the Orb-produced "Higher Than the Sun"), Primal Scream caught the mind-blown euphoria of Ecstacy better than anyone. Frontman Bobby Gillespie had no singing voice to speak of, but his vision of cosmic hedonism made him a drugged-out Pied Piper for the acid tribes. From the incantatory anthems "Loaded" and "Come Together" to the sinister rendering of the 13th Floor Elevators' "Slip Inside This House,"
Screamadelica was a modern psych classic.

Windward Away
Windward Away is the long-awaited new release from acclaimed Scottish Folk patriarch Archie Fisher, his first new studio recording in 20 years that not only presents his up-to-date material, but also includes 8 bonus tracks intended for a 1980 release that never was issued.
A haunting collection of introspective ballads invoking the wild and rough beauty of the Scottish Border country, with songs of sea and land, love and loneliness, Windward Away is Fisher's masterwork from a career stretching back to the early 1960s.
The story of the album starts in the mid-1990s, when Archie toured the U.S. The late founder of Red House Records, Bob Feldman, was an immense fan - their meeting resulted in the label's 1995 release of Sunsets I've Galloped Into, Fisher's 1988 recording never distributed in America. Feldman also signed Fisher to Red House for a new recording.
Archie went into the studio soon after, but writing and production was slow, seemingly unfinished to Fisher's liking.
The protracted birth of Windward Away took a piece of musical archeology to complete the picture. While moving his Edinburgh studio, engineer Neil Ross came across a safety copy of an album Archie recorded for Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy's Blackbird label in the 1970s. Blackbird folded before the 1980 release date and the album subsequently never left storage. Fast forward to 2008 when a package arrives in Fisher's mailbox: a recording and note from Ross asking, "is this the missing master?" Thus the fitting notation of the final 8 tunes as "The Missing Master." Many of these "bonus tracks" were later rerecorded and issued (some only as live performances), yet these original versions take on a wonderfully fresh air being backed by orchestra and string section. To many Archie Fisher fans, they will prove the definitive versions.

Open Question: Porn Law - do you agree?
live in Scotland, in the UK and the law is that you must be 16 to have sex. I am 16, but dont plan to have sex yet, but i am legally allowed to, yet i am not legally allowed to witness sex on video, silly, dont you think? So, in the uk i can now legally have sex, so i could possibly, legally be a father, and i can live in my own house, and yet, i still cant watch porn, although i do, so why is the law for porn viewing 18?

Voting Question: Does it depress Canadians that their cultural icons often desert/ leave to go abroad?
It's not that they just leave and then return, but over 90% of the time they leave and never come back.
Countless Celebrities, Singers, Directors.
I remember James Cameron coming back for the Canadian award show, and saying (nearly exact quote): "Yeah. So Im here. And well, hey, I guess I still have a Canadian passport in my house. So thanks".
(has stated many times to be proud to be an American)
Same for Jim Carrey (let go of his Canadian citizenship, etc).
Sports figures: Lennox Lewis (fights for england, returns with British accent), Owen Hargureaves (last year's interview while in Italy for CL clash :" I just dont feel Canadian". Plays for England, considers himself English).
Why is this? In Scotland, people go down south (as often), but yet they are extremely proud of their Scottish heritage.
I have often attributed this to their distinct accent (which brings them together). Canadians obviously dont have this.
But as a Canadian, i often feel depressed and even ashamed of this. It's as if Canada has become the bitter reject colony of the United States, left outside their borders, wishing they could be let in. :\

Voting Question: Where else could this happen? Only in Scotland.?
Scottish and Proud
Being Scottish is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way. Then sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.
And the most Scottish thing of all? Suspicion of all things foreign!
Only in Scotland can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
Only in Scotland do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in Sotland do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.
Only in Scotland do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.
Only in Scotland do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.
Only in Scotland do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.
Only in Scotland are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink.
NOT TO MENTION..
3 Scots die each year testing if a 9v battery works on their tongue.
142 Scots were injured in 1999 by not removing all pins from new shirts.
58 Scots are injured each year by using sharp knives instead of screwdrivers.
31 Scots have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the fairy lights were plugged in.
19 Scots have died in the last 3 years believing that Christmas decorations were chocolate.
Scottish Hospitals reported 4 broken arms last year after Xmas cracker-pulling accidents.
18 Scots had serious burns in 2000 trying on a new jumper with a lit cigarette in their mouth.
A massive 543 Scots were admitted to A&E in the last two years after trying to open bottles of beer with their teeth.
5 Scots were injured last year in accidents involving out-of-control Scalextric cars.
and finally...
In 2000 eight Scots were admitted to hospital with fractured skulls incurred whilst throwing up into the toilet.
SCOTLAND - Love it

Resolved Question: hi please answer/ what would be the estimated cost? ?
hi thanks for reading if u did..
just wondering about how much we would have to save up before my mom, brother, her bf, and i go on this trip to ireland to see family who will possibly let us stay at his other house in dublin.. we'll be there for 3 weeks, and plan on putting all the money we have together that we've saved before our trip in 2014 =) we will hopefully get a eurail pass and go on little day trips to just look and explore places like the old scandanavian countries, england, scotland, france, and italy we want to see famous well known touristy things while we're up there, but still save money eating cheaply while we're in dublin and make often during that whole stay there dinner there, but possibly will stay the night in places like italy so we can really see it and some of the old scandanavian countries like amsterdam probably a couple of nights in italy and couple in amsterdam or england but the rest will be in ireland we also want to rent a car while we're in england and ireland

Resolved Question: Why can't the USA....?
Change their Constitution? OK for the obvious reason that it IS the "Constitution" but I am saying this with reference to the Xmas shooting by the man dressed in the Santa suit.
He shot a house full of partygoers because he was bitter of a divorce.
He could quite easily go and buy a gun and ammo (like anyone can in the USA) and then go and shoot whomever he liked before selfishly killing himself. I am so sick of hearing about shootings and killings. (E.g Columbine, Virginia Tech + the coutnless other horrible cases that are similar and all involve guns) mostly from America, when it can easily be prevented by not allowing easy access to guns. In fact, you should have to go through the strict licensing that most countries have in order to get it.
Here are some statistics to back me up:
After the massacre of 16 schoolchildren in Dunblane, Scotland, the United Kingdom restricted access to guns. In the U.K. all gun owners must be licensed and all guns must be registered. Handguns are prohibited for civilians. The law makes no exceptions. Overall, four percent of households keep firearms. There are only 0.4 intentional gun deaths per 100,000 people. In Japan, where the laws are similar, the numbers are even lower. Firearms are present in only 0.6% of homes in Japan and the intentional gun death rate is 0.07% per 100,000 people.
In Canada, where guns laws are somewhat looser, some hand guns are available, but assault weapons are banned, 26% of homes have guns present. Almost four people per 100,000 are killed in intentional gun violence each year. Switzerland requires registration of guns and licensing of gun owners, but places no restriction on the types of guns owned. Gun deaths are 6.2 per 100,000 people and 27.2% of homes have weapons
Are you ready for the USA?
The powerful National Rifle Association has lobbied hard against any restriction on the ownership of any gun, including handguns and semi and fully automatic weapons. The NRA and the pro-gun lobby maintain that restricting access to handguns and doing away with concealed weapons do not have a positive effect on gun deaths. Because of the continuing efforts of the NRA, the U.S. has some of the most liberal gun laws in the world. It is easier to purchase a gun in the United States than in any other industrialized nation. If lenient gun laws actually reduce gun violence as the NRA claims, the U.S. should have the lowest rate of gun violence.
The American Medical Association reports that between 36% and 50% of male eleventh graders believe that they could easily get a gun if they wanted one.
And lastly:
Every day, more than 80 Americans die from gun violence. (Coalition to Stop Gun Violence)
The rate of firearm deaths among kids under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
American kids are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die from a firearm accident than children in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control)
I understand the American Constitution is the root of American Society but back when it was signed, people didnt use guns in the sense we do today. The way we use guns has changed dramatically and now its out of control.
Surely a law could be made which prohibits easy access to guns/gun ammunition!!
Does anyone agree with me? Gun violence should have stopped so long ago but it seems to just be getting worse.

Resolved Question: I Just Found Out That My Girlfriend Has Cancer.... ?
I felt like she was hiding something from me, so I rang her before and asked if everything was ok between us. She told me she had breast cancer and that she doesnt know if it has been found in time.
I wanted to just run round to her house and be there for her. But she is in Scotland, visiting people. After she told me (she was crying on the phone) she put the phone down on me. I tried to ring her back 4 times but it just went to answerphone, so I sent her a text saying that I understood why she found it hard for her to tell me, that I would always be there for her and that I loved her.
She means the world to me and I wouldnt ever leave her because of this. I just... I feel numb at this moment.
I know that it is going to be hard to watch the woman that I love go through this.
I guess I am just wanted some advice on anything really.
Thankyou.
